Martini bars in Munich

Hello everyone,

as I have been visiting the various bars and clubs in Munich, I have not yet found a single place to serve Martinis. Even at 8 seasons and P1 I was SOL. Are Martinis just unknown to the Bvarians? Does anyone have a recommendation for a good spot?

I've never had a good martini here. A couple of times I've ordered it they came with a martini glass filled with vodka (I drink vodka ones) and one teeny olive with a pit stuck to the end of a toothpick. Real classy. Otherwise they just give you a glass of vermouth with ice and a slice of lemon.

The bar in the lobby at the Sheraton Grand Place, has nice martinis, not cheap, but very good. Its also a cozy setting there.

Any of the "classic" bars will make you a fine martini. Talk to Andy at Cortiina, any of the chaps at Tobacco, Schumann's (of course); even 'out of the way' places like Maria Pasagna can do a 'proper' martini - shaken, stirred, dry, extra dry, vodka, gin, twist, olives...

I had a really nice Cosmo at Kaffee Giesing. Also had a nice one made espressly for me at the Twisted.

I agree with Tim...you just gotta ask.

When ordering a martini in Munich, one must specify "orginal (gin or vodka) martini, otherwise they will pour Martinin Blanco (vermouth) over ice and call it a martinin cocktail.

I had too many cosmos at the TB but was very tasty and I am sure they will knock up a great martini if requested
