@SaraByrd...theres a new US commercial promoting minivans to youngsters. They start with pictures of old vw and other hippy vans. Tagline is "its the van your parents wished they had at your age".

Anyhoo, why is it that every good thread revolves around bacon? The Victorian House does a nice BLT, dripping in mayo though so if thats not your thing ask for it on the side. The Hard Rock Cafe has absolute shit service but a huge BLT platter, yes thats platter as it comes with not one but two BLT sandwiches.

Minivans forsooth! In 1965, my Ma took my brothers and me (8, 7, 5) from California to Philadelphia and back via Chicago, Grand Tetons and Yosemite with all of our camping gear in a 1955 Bug and it didn't break down once. That's the car I want to drive.

The only Auto I've ever owned was a lovely little electric blue VW Beetle 1303 S. The 1303 S's all had 1600 engines and "bug eyes" (the rounded bonnet). It had a white top, Recaro racing (bucket seats) and big racing wheels. It looked ridiculous.

AND, it was built in 1972 - my birth year.

Anyhow, I only had it a year, 'cos the welding bill for the MoT was almost as much as the value of the car.

I can still hear the distinctive Beetle "clicking sound" of the engine turning over.

I can still day dream about a "realised daydream" can't I? That sounds like a philosphical conundrum.

Luckily I just happen to have a few rashers of the lovely stuff in my freezer.
