Is driving me nuts...

Right then,

I have this laptop given to me by a kind TTer, I want to connect it to this PC to do astronomy. It won't bloody work.

Down lower right in system tray it says "Lan Verbindung 5 Ein Netzwerkkabel ist nicht angeschlossen". Clicking on it we gt the image you see bottom.

I am running Zonealarm as my firewall on my GMX DSL connection. Is there something I have to set there to allow it to listen to my network card?

Please for Gods sake help!

Kza
You will need a crossover ethernet cable to connect 2 pcs together, as opposed to a normal ethernet cable to connect a pc and a switch.

Ach so!

A mate told me this but I didn't understand it.-

Please explain what I must ask for in Conrad!

An Ethernet Crossover cable...

Although an ethernet crossover cable will make sharing the DSL connection a little more tricky (2nd network card in PC etc). If all you want to do is exchange files then that´s the cheapest option (4 Euros from my local shop).

Might be better to consider a cheap router/switch if you plan on using the laptop and PC online together.

Nope Patster my DSL connection is viya USB so no probs there.

The network port is free on the NIC.
