Berlin during the Christmas period

Things to see and do

Hi,

I am planning a trip during this christmas long weekend to Berlin. But I would like to find out from those of you who have been there whether most of the sight-seeing and interesting places are closed during that weekend? Will it be a lot better if I can travel there during some other time?

Personally, I am not very interested in the museums and palaces. Maybe the exterior structure of the buildings interests me more. I would also like to know what are the major sights (those that I really have to go if I go Berlin) that are closed during christmas too.

Thanks!

has anyone got a any "must do's" for berlin at xmas?

its my first one here and im just wondering apart from the markets is there anything going on?

In case you're interesting in classical music, you should definitely check out one of the many church concerts here in Berlin, preferably Bach's "Christmas Oratorio". That always puts me in the right Christmas mood. smile.gif

sounds good, any particular favorite churches for that?
Kat78
Hmm, in the end it doesn't really matter which church you go to, I guess. Just look for all the posters in the train stations and ads in newspapers, and I am sure you'll find a church that "suits" you. wink.gif

Did you try berlin.de? I did a search for Bach between 20 and 27 December and got no fewer than 21 hits, so there's obviously plenty on offer, inlcuding at least one performance of the Christmas Oratorio:

Oh wow, Konzerthaus (Berlin-Mitte) is definitely a great place to see/hear the Christmas Oratorio! Thanks for the info. smile.gif
