the best curry i ever had was in port elizabeth (SA) the resturant was called "up the khyber ". this was 5 years ago and have never had one like it since.Has anyone else got a hot tip, does not have to be in munich.just to share information with a curry lover
Keydeck
"Little India" in Stockholm. Owner trained in London and has a subscription to Curry Monthly (apparently that's important, the training not the magazine subscription). There are two that I know of in the city, but my favourite was the one on Kungsholmen.
Timmeh
Bestest curry I ever had would be in the north of Thailand, in this little village in the jungle. Fanfuckingtastic, but very possibly the taste was influenced by my surroundings. Second best would be a tie between one I had in Chaingmai and one I had in Bangkok.
Owain Glyndwr
Adil's in Sparkhill, Birmingham. Other TTers will verify this as the best curry houese ever.

Matter of fact, I had a great one a few weeks ago right here in Lehel, "Sitar", corner Tattenbachstrasse/Robert-Koch-Strasse, a few steps from the U4/5 stop Lehel. Better than most I've had in Munich.

I thought about posting Adil's but then I thought, no, I'll let dependable OG do it wink.gif

Surprisingly enough otherwise I'd agree with Timmeh too: a little village in northern Thailand where they spoke no English, can't remember the name, but the curry was magnificent and cost next to nothing too, as if that matters.
Crawlie
Don Riina's place. Some of the best curry I have ever tasted to be had there

Or go to India and get invited to somebody's place for dinner. Yum.

Yanbu,Saudia Arabia 1981 , open air place in the main square, no seats, and you had to bring your own plate and knife and fork, strange for Saudi this place was ran by Indians not Pakistanies, best curry an Nan I ever had which considering I had just worked in Leicester for 2 years took some doing. Best other curry from a place that had a name and you sat down to eat was the Curry Pot in Belgrave Rd Leicester
Inflatablewoman
The silly bugger, down Cannock is alright. Although there are few places in chadsmoor that do a bostin balti, an all.

you can get a pretty mean vietnamese curry at cyclo next to treznewskis. otherwise the star of india in northampton for the uk and a little roadside place we stopped at in bali for the genuine local experience, just the local ingredients made such a difference.

Out side of Bombay, near the Nuclear plant - we stopped on the side of the road for a break, and this family invited me and my two buddies in for dinner, kind of weird, all the women stood behind the men, while we ate, and I sat and ate and drank Kingfisher beer! huh.gif
bluedave
any of several in Rusholme, Manchester on the famed "Curry Mile" , probably The Star best

Best: Punjab Paradise, Ladypool Rd., Balsal Heath, Brummyland.

Next best: I forget the name, but it's in NYC on the corner of "Curry Row" (6th betw. 1st & 2nd Aves) facing 1st, up the stairs and to the right.

woof.

That's probably the Absnith from not too long ago.

Kathmandu: Can't recall the name of the resturant, but if you pay my air ticket I pay the bill! (I speak Nepali as well).
Rus
So I guess in this place you would say
"Kanna Mieto Cha?!"
Excuse the spelling but I think this would say the right thing!

For me the best Curry Experience I had was in Jakarta at a restaurant called Hazara

Best - Spon end curry house in Coventry. Free home delivery for orders over 5 pounds - that was curry, rice, nan and a chapatti! Big portions too, so that was supper and breakfast sorted. The red hot chilli pepper in coventry was also top notch.

Worst - A place in Vancouver where the curry sauce was basically water!

U guys have got to try a Curry Devil man, it´s unlike any you have ever tasted! tongue.gif

If you are allowed to count the south east asian style rather than the indian, my favorite was the Hard Wok Cafes Chicken and Seafood Curry Laksa back in Christchurch. Malaysian food rocks. Any Malaysian resutaurants here?

i heard Champor is excellent but expensive. My malaysian friend went there and said its fantastic but the portions were too small though.and the service was not the best though. heard some good reviews from the germans though. The menu is available on the net too. Seems the Chef was hired from KL.
