Just checked the schedule at the Cinema and the latest Harry Potter movie will be on that day. Looking for people would like to go watch the 22:30pm session, because I have german classes that night, which only ends at 20:20pm.

But there are other three sessions that day for your choice.

Just to warn you: the movie won't be shown in English before Thursday, so all screenings on Wednesday are in German
(quoting from the Cinema's web page: "The HARRY POTTER premiere on Tuesday night as well as all scheduled screenings on Wednesday will be in the German version. Due to different release dates in the UK and the US (their launch date is Friday, November 18) we can’t offer you the English version for these dates.
Of course you can change your tickets to other dates or fully return them. The midnight premiere and the evening shows on Wednesday will have a reduced price of 5.- € and the afternoon screenings on Wednesday will have a reduced price of 4.- €.
All scheduled screenings from Thursday on will of course be in the English version!
We apologize for the late notice and any inconveniences, but decisions like these are never made by the theatres but by the distributors (our film content providers).")

I will go and see this movie...but I expect it to be a load of shite!!!
The 3rd film was wank...utter, utter masterbation crap. The storyline from the book had been picked to death so badly it didnt make sense anymore, somehow they found all the time to miss entire parts of the book, but added at least 10 minutes of shite that never existed.
The 4th film doesnt promise to be any better, all the side stories are gone, Mrs Weasley is not even in the film, personally IMO she plays an important role for Harry as she is like his adopted Mother. Literally this is down to the bare bones.

It is interesting to see how many people hate movies made from books. They dislike the fact that during the process of converting a 1000 page novel into a 200 page movie script, things get omitted.
I really did not expect that the third HP movie would have a chance of capturing any depth from the book. I feel that they succeeded, to my satisfaction.
However, the 4th book was soo much more complex than the 3rd. I don't see much hope. But I will see the movie anyway.

thanks for pointing out the change in language for the HP at the cinema.
i hated the HP1, haven't seen the second, as expectations are generally low by then, i liked the third one and i hope that HP4 is fun too.
I've reserved 4 tickets for 15:30 on Sunday (20.11.2005). That's soon enough for me.

I understand the difficulties, but there is still a lot of choice in
what gets excluded, and in the third one in particular (although that may be just because that's the one I've seen most recently), I think important plot points were glossed over or sacrificed altogether in order to make time for things that were less necessary. For instance, the boggart scene was given much too much time for its importance to the story. I thought.

funny thing is, sometimes the trimming process actually makes the story much better. one example that comes to mind is The Lord of the Rings - the first two films were excellent! - BECAUSE they cleared out all the tangential, unimportant page filling crap "background", rightground, leftground, and oh-my-god-I-just-wasted-20-minutes-of-my-life-reading-that-useless-rubbish-ground. the third film did a poorer job of this, and the film suffered. in my humble opinion

@Chicago: that is exactly my point. The LotR movies were excellent adaptations of the books because they cut out the crap but left in enough of the important stuff to actually tell a story. Adapting a book to a movie can be done well, but in the case of the Harry Potter stories, it wasn't.
I'm still gonna go see 'em all, though.

wont say anymore until someone else sees it- let me know though!

That's how I feel about the Lord of the Rings movies.
There's a TTer who feels that Jay Leno is funnier than Conan O'Brian; poor fella.
I just chalk it up to different tastes.
As for HP, it helps to have kids in the right age bracket.

I personally prefered HP3. HP4 was way too complex for 1 film, so it seemed to lack some depth.

I used the word "blowjob" recently on a website for techno-geeks, and got a warning from the mod for using non-"family friendly" language. Turns out the website is US based. Natch.

@SOB
At 22:15 (which is earlier than the normal 22:45)
I am really undecided about this.
On one hand I would really like to go see it, and the fact I am any way in the city for C night makes it ideal, but when tickets are reserved, you need to be there half an hour earlier, which will make C night very short for me, too short I would say...
If any one considers to join me on 23.11 for HP4, and does not plan to go to C night, and would be so nice as to claim the tickets, that would be great.

me too. i had a great time. yes it is darker, but more mature too. we all know what will happen, but i almost cried nevertheless.

if i had read #4 just before seeing the film, i would ahve probably been disapointed too, but i think they did a great job bringing the best parts of goblet of fire onto the screen.

We watched it yesterday, and as avid HP readers and discussers we had a LOT to talk about. Loads of the plot were left out or changed, the flow of the book is not captured in the movie, it's more single episodes. But as a movie, it is very, very good. The changes were made so as the plot was still logical, and there is a fair amount of humor which was singularly lacking in the 3rd movie. I still cried when Cedric asked Harry to take his body back. Sentimental Cancer that I am.

I just saw it today, and I do think it is the best Harry Potter movie so far. A lot had to be left out, but it wasn't as clumsily done as in the other three, IMO. Definitely worth seeing.

Would my (very emotionally sensitive) 8 your old be ok in it? He was invited y a friend, but we had plans.
He hid under the seat in the last one (but he was younger then) the dementors really freaked him out.
But he managed star wars 3 without a flinch..

Hmm, I haven't seen SW3...but this one was definitely freaky, the graveyard scene was pretty scary. My 10-year-old is never freaked by movies - I get more upset than he does - so I wasn't worried about him at all, but if I were you I'd...hesitate. Especially at the Cinema, which really is too loud.
If your son can wait for it to come out on DVD and see it in the safety of his own home, or a friend's house, I think I'd recommend that. If he's a huge HP fan and really can't wait that long, then at least go over the book with him and make sure he knows more or less what to expect.
