OK, so I wasnt expecting anything big from this movie...why?
My thoughts on the 3rd film were this...it was absolute tosh!! The film jumped and stuttered through the entire story, some of the main characters had virtually no presence and were woefully misrepresented. For me one of the defining moments of the book is that part where Harry & Sirious start to bond, there is a good bit of text where you feel this happen. In the film, Sirious goes from homicidal maniac to doting Godfather in seconds, the film just does not successfully pull off for me what is the best book of the series.
OK, 3rd film rant over!!
What did I expect from GoF? Pretty much the same as above, expectations of major parts of the book missed out for unnecessary scenes.
What did I get from GoF?This is a pretty damn good film and by far the best of the series so far. Yes large parts of the book are missed out, you know which ones arent there, but you're not bothered. They stick to the core storyline very well and even change it a little in places to fit the whole plot in to the film.
Brendan Gleeson as mad eye moody was brilliant in the role, a good choice all round. Daniel Radcliffe played his role a lot better than he did in the last film as did Rupert Grint.
Ralph Fiennes pops ups as Lord Voldermort in the film for what is probably the most eagerly waited scene in the Harry Potter series, which includes the death of one of the characters. No spoilers for those who havent read the books!!
What Didnt I like about GoF?Michael Gambon as Dumbledore just doesnt work for me, he plays the character like a crackpot old fool with all the air and grace of a mule. He lacks any emotion whatsoever, when he is supposed to be all powerful and angry, he just doesnt come across like that. When he is frustrated he sounds like he wants to whimper and cry about things. Richard Harris was always going to be a tough act to follow, but there must have been better choices?
Wasnt so impressed with Emma Watson she did ok, just not great.
A couple of other nitpicky thigs I thought were either not necessary or had been completely missed from the fillm arent worth mentioning, this is a good film that is definitely worth seeing.
As to whether kids should go and see this, well if they've read the book or had it read to them, then absolutely, they know whats going to happen anyway. If not, let them go anyway.
I should give this a rating...8/10!!
P.S.
Cinema Rant!!I go to the 22.30 showing expecting to see the film start somewhere around this time...it starts late...not the film...the FCUKING ADVERTS, christ almighty its 22.30, the film wont finish until 1am, I dont want to see 30 minutes of useless drivel, 3 adverts of people dancing and showing how cool smoking is supposed to be!! 2 ads for a flippin Mercedes and some Turkey type of bird, what does that have to do with the car!!

To top all the adverts off they finish with the Romeo & Bleedin Juliet H&M advert!!

Thankfully it was the shortened version.
