Where to buy Track Curtains?

Couldn't see any previous posts regarding this...not that I am surprised.

Does anyone know where to get decent curtains for those tracks most flats have? We are trying to turn our one-room flat into a two-room with a little creativity. We don't want to resort to room dividers...although I would be interested to know where to get those as well.

We have tried Ikea (naturally rolleyes.gif), Hertie, Kaufhof...they all have the kind that are made for rails rather than the track kind. We looked into having some made...but wow...what a rip off.

One would hope that since most flats still have those tracks...there are curtains to fit them somewhere in Munich.

Any ideas?

Thanks TT.

Cant help but can offer some sympathy. When my parents moved over here, they found the same problem. Unfortunately mum had to resort to making them herself (she isnt a sewing type of lady) and cut her wee fingers to shreds in the process, she did a good job though. I will ask her if she has since found anywhere that sells them for you. In the meantime good luck!

Ooh ooh! Pick me! Pick me!

I was (very enthusiastically) told about a gigantic shop / warehouse that sells stuff like this in all colours, shapes and sizes.

It's called Bauhaus (like the building company and music group) and is on Landsbergerstr 175 - S Bahn stop dunno maybe Donnersbergerbruecke?
Take a peek on www.hot-maps.de mebbe.

My friend said it was huge and had all kinds of curtains, door knobs, carpets etc. and not too expensive, PLUS they tailor make things for you!!

Never been though, so can't guarantee they have exactly what ya need.

Aren't all curtains the same?
The only difference between the curtain types are the little plastic things you use
to hang the curtains?!!
Karstadt, and other big department stores normally sell several types of 'plastic
thing' which you can use to hang curtains on the tracks you describe!

roro is correct. All you need are things called gliders.
The top bit fits into the track slot and a fob with a hole in it will hang down. You then use your normal curtain hook to hang the curtain.
You must however use headed ("-band") curtains for this - not tab tops.
Hertie/Karstadt will have this type, they are dearer than tab tops though and are less popular. Try also catalogues like OTTO. If worst comes to the worst you can always cut off the tabs of a tab top curtain then glue/iron-on the heading tape (remember to recalculate the drop/length though).

I was looking at curtains just on Saturday and OBI has track curtains, plus the railings.

In the end...Karstadt saved the day. They had the proper type of curtains...made for those tracks.

However, in addition, they also had special glider-thingies (sorry that I cannot be more technical) that you can actually use tab-top curtains on the tracks.

We checked out the Bauhaus and Obi...but they did not have the same selection that Karstadt did.

Thanks for all the replies...advice is always helpful.
