Where to buy House Plants?

Greenery for the home

Okay, so we had some spectacular plants and trees in our apartment in Hamburg, but our move was on the same day as the first snow back in October and they all died. Would like to find some new greenery to make our home feel more homey but haven't the slightest idea where to go in Munich.

Any ideas?

I think there's a garden centre in the OEZ. Can't remember what it's called though - it might have been Edeka but I'm not 100% sure (thought they were a supermarket).

Michnic,

Your timing is almost perfect. On 4th to 7th of March there is the "Garten München" fair on in the Munich Messe (U2 line). See http://www.garten-muenchen.de

Apart from that, we've gotten most of our plants from a fantastic garden centre near where we live. There's a few of them around Munich (one in Victualienmarkt) and I'll post the name as soon as I can remember it.

EDIT: Right, we got our stuff from Dehner, but Obi are also very good. There are branches of both all over the city and you'll find them easily on the internet.

you can buy plants at wal-mart too. obi has a good garden section too (this was already mentioned, i know!). and dehner specializes in garden stuff (used them when i was in esslingen).

Cool. I knew this was the right place to ask. biggrin.gif

Keydeck, I think we live in the same area (don't we??) Where are Obi and Dehner?

And OEZ is the shopping mall at the Olympia wasamadingsbums, right?

Hi Michnic,

My wife and I live out of the shop caled Pflanzen Kölle. Located outside of Munich it is a huge garden superstore. But as I am a true geographer to form I can't tell you its location! Look on the web under this name.

Jeremy.

Not sure Michnic if we live near each other. I live in Laim. Anyways, the Obi I go to is at Westendstr 221. Check for the one nearest you. For Dehner we went to the one on Meglingerstr in Forstenreid. The others are in Victualienmarkt, Germering and Kirchtrudering. Have a look at http://www.dehner.de for details.

Jeremy, you're just like my boyfriend. Can always suggest where to go but never how to get there (or home, for that matter). tongue.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. That will be something to look into on one of those weekends we rent a car.

Thanks, Keydeck.
