Hi everyone - enjoying the octoberfest? Ive just arrived in MUC and still struggling to find a job, I am 23 from Ireland with little german but enough to get by with or make a conversation, I have a business degree and another business diploma and I also have a diploma for english teaching. I have worked from the Gucci and Givenchy business to our Irish bank headquarters and also as an assistant carer at a disability clinic. Can anyone offer my some advice as to finding a job, didnt realise how bad the situation was in MUC, Hope to hear from you and thanks ROLAND1982CORK@yahoo.com

You might try checking at Berlitz to teach English... they take teachers on a freelance basis pretty regularly. You have to do a one week unpaid training with them in the Berlitz method, and then can work for them. I did it for a year and it helped me get started here in Munich, they are especially nice at the Leopoldstr. location. Take a CV by there... Fiona is especially great, you might as for her...

Good Luck!

Hey Roland I never got thanks for the page I wrote you when I PM'd you. As for cheap german classes try http://www.toytowngermany.com/munich/German_Language_Schools, look for Klartext, that's where I went and can recommend it.

Sure Roland you've been here that long you're an old hand by now. Anyhow, I'd like to recommend the Gruhne Karte / Green Cards for using the public transport...it's about 42 Euros for the central zone for a month (although it's for the calender month, not a month from the day u buy it) and u can use it for tube, bus, trams etc, as long as it's after 9 am. The Isar Card is a bit more expensive if u like the early mornings.

Hi
I´m new too and in exactly the same position as you.
Am going to go along to the next pub meet but that is a fair few days away.
Let me know if you want to chat.
I went to a Tandem German course - it was OK. Not brilliant.
Take care
Steve
