Opa is taking me for a pre-xmas dinner & caberet to Witzigmann's Palazzo. Does anyone know the dress code? Also, can you tell me anything about it, like is it good and where can I park?

Thanking you all in anticipation.
Granny.
Noddy
Cocktail dress for both of you I'm afraid.
Granny
Thanks noddy, but can I still wear my wellies?

Well seeing as even the cheap seats are 105 Euro's a pop, I would suggest that you don't wear your ripped jeans and favourite seven year-old T-Shirt. Wellies are a definate no-no.

The tickets arrived today with UPs and when I noticed the price, I nearly had an apoplexy!

That was before I read your post Jake. Opa is not normally a spend thrift, therefore, I was astounded by his extravagance. Maybe he's having an affair, what do you think? Is it guilt? Have I been spending to much time with my feathered friends?

Any ideas where to park? Somewhere easy to get in and out of as I will more than likely be driving. Oh! I'll be wearing high heels I suppose (as my wellies are yellow and won't match my frock), so not too far to walk either, thanks.

Just to let you all know that you didn't miss anything at Witzigmann Palazzo.

We managed to find a parking space at the front door, which was a good start as the rain was torrential. Then a scaby loking red carpet floated in front of our eyes as we entered the "circus tent"!! Our intitial greeting was by an unfriendly native German Frau but subsequent encounters with personel of Romanian/Russian origin were pleasant. The bank balance was severely dented when we deposited our coats with the Romanian looking gypsy, before being ushered speedily to our table ( as we were a few minutes late).

Then the show began! A circus minus the animals (although there were some ferocious people about!). We dinned as jugglers shoogled their balls before our eyes and a contortionist made us so squeemish that we almost refused dessert.
In fairness, the food was frugal but nice. Service was prompt and efficient.

However, the entire evening was overpriced nonetheless, I did enjoy it as I was laughing at their stupidity rather that their attempts at comedy. Opa still hasn't recovered from the aperitif I ordered "congac paradise", it was 25 euros for a wet slither in a glass, which was consumed in one tiny swallow. If it hadn't been so expensive, I would have ordered another to revive Opa.

The night ended in McDonalds as we were starving and as you will imagine our attire drew a few strange looks. I think the staff thought that we had dressed up to spend an evening with them, they must have thought that we were really sad.

On the whole an expensive learning experience with us as the clowns for paying the asking price. However, the event appeared popular with the majority of attendees, whether that was a facade or not beats me! It just wasn't " my cup of tea"!

Hi Granny,

Sorry to hear it wasn't up to much.

Next year you could get cheap flights to Glasgow, go to Billy Smarts circus and then Harry Ramsdens for fish and chips and it would still be cheaper than one ticket for this year !!! laugh.gif
Granny
I could take my entire family and still have change back! I'm not staying here next year, that's a certainty.

I hear Cirkus Krone is quite good (as cicuses go) and probably more affordable too.
Granny
I actually loathe the circus, irrespective of where it is. Therefore, I have no intention of subjecting myself to further torture.

Thanks to all who adviced me on this matter. I hope my comments serve as a deterrent to any would-be Witzigmann Palazzo goers (if such a word exists). "There's no fool like an old fool",..Opa! smile.gif
