I have been suffering miserably the last 2.5 months with blocked up sinuses.
Have never had such a problem for so long - usually clears up after a week
or so and after taking medication or using sprays. This time it seems immune to
all medication

*sniff*
Anyone else suffering? Is it going around at the moment? Or is it just me? :}

i have had the worst flu/sinus attack in my whole life and its only just fading after a GAZILLION weeks...Vicks, under the soles of your feet, in your nose, ears and throat, every night!!! none of the homeopathic crap shit worked on me...or u could try Gelomytrol from the apotheke. its a euclyptus pill that u swallow, within 20 minutes it clears u from the inside...but dont take any nasal spray as this pill works to get all the YUCKS out...sprays clears them in...hope that helps

Have you seen the doctor about your sinusitis, or are you guessing that's what it is? Maybe your thyroid glands are inflamed, or.. best to get it checked out

I've had a light bronchitis/sinusitis for 3 weeks now, but it's slowly going. Get well soon, chuck.

I suffer a lot from sinusitis so completely empathise with you. Its horrible and really affects your life. When its really bad the only thing that will get rid of it and make life more bearable is antibiotics so get yourself to the docs and get it sorted oot.

My last bout with sinusitis ended up with antibiotics. I've got a crap cold and Im trying to prevent them from getting so bad. Ive been doing the nasen dusche which, while not exactly pleasant, does seem to help, as well decongestants and the like. I also know people that go in for the acupuncture but that really is regular type treatment. ( i go for other reasons).
You do have to be careful with some of those medicated sprays as some of them are addictive. Your body can build up a tolerance to them thus requiring greater (in some cases unsafe) dosages to breath. The packages in the US will say do not exceed recommended dosage, and do not use more than 3 days. something like that.

Most of the sinus sufferers here appear to be female. Is it something that troubles women moreso than men?

About may i had it really bad, to the point I found an allergist to see what was up.
Turns out I'm allergic to trees.
yes, trees.
So he lasered out the insides of my nose, and after everything stopped blooming, and is now dying, I'm better.
If you have a friend coming to visit from the states, tell them to bring some Sinutab. Its pseudephedrine, and it kicks ass over everything ive tried here.
(Its the same stuff speed freaks melt down to make crystal Meth, so you KNOW its good.)
One works on all but the most severe days, and I only have those when I visit my moms in Texas.

That's possible. I was just diagnosed with Schilddrüsenentzündung, or hypothyroidism, and 1 out of 50 women get it, whereas only 1 in 1000 men do. Also, a warning to us 'foreigners' - what I have is common amongst foreigners living in areas close to the mountains (i.e. Munich), as there's not much iodine here, whereas in the UK, there is much more in the air and food, hence the under-activity of my thyroid glands over here. (Never thought I'd be writing to a load of ppl online about my health in such great detail!)

Will buying iodized table salt help with that UA? I've never noticed non-iodized salt in the US, it's probably available in other regions, but have ended up with it here a couple times through pure carelessness.

Dunno... we use Jod-salz here, which I guess is iodised. Anyway, the solution for my specific 'illness' are to take iodine tablets for the next half year every day, as I only have a mild case. More info (v useful) here :

Hmm... I bet it gets foreigners because we don't know there's such a thing as non-iodized salt until we buy it by mistake.

Jod-salt is iodizied (I think Jod is German for Iod !)
Don't know about the UK and US but in Ireland you don't get iodinised salt (at least I've never seen it). We have enough of the stuff anyway that we don't need it in the salt.

Tylenol Sinus Allergy works when it is real bad for me. I don't know where to find American OTC drugs in Munich. Any suggestions?

I've read in many natural healing books that sinus problems can be related to an allergy to dairy. So maybe try not having milk, cheese, yogurt, etc? I've never had any problems except one year in California, and my naturapath put me on Quercitin capsules, which are the active compound in red onions and such. They really worked! Don't know if they have them here though... but hey... try the dairy abstinence. Worse case scenario is that your body produces less mucus and help out the healing process for whatever route you decide to go (if you ever have a phlegmy cold.. avoid dairy like the plague or you'll be drowning in your own snot!). Hope you feel better soon. Sinus problems suck!

It's the same in the UK.
I take iodine tablets for my thyroid. I ran out when over there and went to a pharmacy to get some more. What could be easier, you might ask. At the first two places they tried to palm of a tincture on me (like I'm really going to swallow that) and at the third they came up with iron tablets. I mentioned that it's a completely different element, and hadn't they heard of iodine? So they fetch the boss man: finally someone who knows his beans (such as what a thyroid gland is).
And that was his story: there is enough I- in the diet anyway that they don't even bother to sell the stuff.

When I became allergic to trees the apotheke gave me "
Reactine Duo" - 1 tablet clears me within an hour.

Well, I ended-up with another sinus infection after flying to the UK at Xmas, which was followed up by acute bronchitis

Only just starting to clear up after antibiotics

Why do bronchial problems often succeed sinusitis?
