I recently moved to Munich, i have Ikea'd my flat but now need to buy all things such as kettle, toaster, microwave small freezer. In the UK places like Tesco now sell value items like these which cost next to nothing. Is there anywhere i can buy at these sorts of prices in Munich. Also wouldnt mind the going to a large supermarket, i am currently paying way over the odds at my local spar!.. What are the options?

I do not have a car, so anywhere accessible by public transport would be great, or any websites that translate into English easily so i dont get caught out by not understanding something important that i mistranslate. Or has anyone got any second hand items that they want to sell on?

I am also looking to meet people to play sports with. I love all sports, and play most to a reasonable standard. Anyone fancy a game of anything? Where are the best sports clubs? email is j.wright@forumgruppe.de if anyone does want to get in touch directly.

I am living in near the S bahn station in Harras. Has anyone go any ideas which is closest reasonably priced good gym to me?

I may have got some of my answers from the already posted threads but i have so many questions i thought that this might be easier...
Thanks

If you live near Harras, you can go to Wal-Mart for shopping. They have both food and electrical appliances. Take the U6 to Implerstrasse, then change to the U3 in the direction of Fürstenried West (don't know the exact stop you need to get off, though). There's also an Aldi discount grocer near the Poccistrasse U-Bahn stop, I think (somewhere on Lindwurmstrasse).

The standard choice for a big selection of electrical appliances would be either Saturn (there's one in the pedestrian zone near Stachus) or Media-Markt.

As tom a said Walmart is a great place to get stuff as well I'd recomend Woolworths prices are good and quality is tops and they both take Credit Cards to boot.

At Harras is the EuroSpar there! Its great for inexpensive elektrical stuffs! Like the kettle and microwave- got mine from there! And they do do returns- bought a VCR that didn't work when I got it home, they did return it for me.
Also watch things like Plus and PennyMarkt, Aldi, and Lidl, sometimes they have small appliances on special.

ps-Walmart at Mailingerstr (U3), Aldi on Lindwurm- close to Goethestr (exit Kapuzinerstr). There is also a Big Saturn Hansa at the other end of the Wiesen- about a 20min walk from Harras. That is at my pace! rolleyes.gif
