Seeking friends

Hi all

Me and my husband have recently relocated from UK to Munich and are hoping to meet some people through Toytown.
Though my husband has lived in Munich for 3 years in the past and speaks German, for me this is the first time. Do let me know if there are any meetings / morning meeting clubs where I can spend some time in good company.

ps : can anyone also suggest some good yoga classes around Schwabing area.

Hiya Hello24 - Welcome to TT. just show up to any event posted in meetups or the calendar. in general, the weekly Curry Night (which I see you've found) or TT Tuesday Drinks is a good place to start off.

there's also loads of other events, some you might find of interest include:

German Conversation Stammtisch. Bring your fluent hubby along as well, we always need peeps who can get tortured, I mean converse with the pidgeon deutschers like myself.

Mums, New Mums and Soon to Be New Mums. If the threads been quiet, probably some of the original posters have had babies recently and so they might be quite busy. There are a few newly pregnant ladies though, so you can perhaps revive the thread.

For your mate though, that there are quite a few Dads on the board and I *think* they've talked about organising one thing or another.

you can also post up a new event and invite people to come along as well.

PS: as always other newbies are invited to step up to the mike and Introduce Yourself to TT

PPS: Oy and in terms of acclimating to life in germany and to TT, I think the must read thread for newbies is worth a looksee.

@jml: i noticed that you are always the nice one to send (similar messages) to newbies on their new "hi, i am new in Munich" posts. maybe all newcomers should automatically get a PM on the "must read topics for newbies" esp. since they are so new, they are not adept at the search function yet (??) smile.gif

That's an excellent idea - a mail for every newbie introducing them to Toytown, newbie etiquette, and where all the most useful information is to be found...

Hi Steve,

welcome to munich.

come along to any of the social events in the calendar (like TT Tuesday Drinks, or curry night) or indeed any of the sporting events (Touch rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Softball and Badminton) and you will soon meet people and make friends. The ski season is not far off, so I am sure you will be able to join in some of the groups that organise days in the Alps.

Thanks for the welcome.
Will come along to the next curry night - am missing curry already. Or the drinks night perhaps. There is no specific info up about them at the mo (except dates) so will keep looking.
Best wishes
Steve
Topsy
the venues don't normally get decided until the Monday for both the drinks do and for the curry
