I am thinking this wiring is not quite "Euro" standard

Pretty par for the course from what I've seen. It is about time the EU standardised on the 3 square pin plug with separate circuits for lights and sockets.

While they are at it, they can scrap the Euro and bring in the GBP as standard currency.

i do find the same circuit for lights and sockets a pain in the arse. when you want to isolate an area before doing some bodgit and scarper electrical/drilling work, the whole lot goes off, which in our house means trailing the extension cable between floors in the dark which i then trip over. eejits!

That has to be one of the worst home cable jobs I've seen in a while..
Those pipes should have been counter sunk into the wall and terminated in a flush mount wall box...

Don't be silly. I have no intention of actually using the thing.

I hear ya. It ended up that way kinda "organically". They lay the pipes at the foundation stage, so they were naturally just hanging. Then the plasterer just kinda plastered around them! That is where the server cabinet will be shortly, so hopefully the whole thing gets tidied up...maybe all that shit gets cut right back to the ceiling?

Rest assured I will not be a happy bunny if it stays looking anything like that!!!

Unreal pad man , unfortunately I will not be able to make any party before mid September due to other commitments - will have to have a chat about building something like this one day.

I was there again yesterday.. WOW, what a pad!
A few teathing problems, but thats expected with Neubau..

Put a temporary Internet connection in for him whilst Telekom get their arse into gear..

Still awaiting the cabinet so we can get the hetworking sorted and all my satellite amps fitted properly..

Already chosen which corner I will be crashed out in!! cant wait till the party.. Promise I wont chuck up down the laundry schute... Honest!

How exciting to be nearly done! Good luck with the rest smile.gif

Photo updates from the above. 10 months down the road and it is nearly there. Lots of course still to sort but very much liveable etc. Wife did have a few "touchy" moments, so there is some stress in this game after all.

Looks beautiful, i am seriously jealous. Good luck in your new home.
Johnny English
Thanks. Just a shame it is built in the arse end of nowhere.

That kitchen looks very live-able, the fronts are just right. Shower? Electric rays from the tap?

And the local villages are full of wierdos.

I like the living room, serious sprawl factor, I might just pass out on your floor some night.

Any news on this project - I'd love to see how the final house looks.

f**cking hell
he has been living in the house for months!!! if it had fell down pretty sure JE would have let us know

1) What was the final cost all in? What would be the plot cost appoximately if you had to pay for such?

2) What would you say is the market value right now?
Johnny English
Just reminded me to add some final shots:

By Jove - thats a massive weather change within two minutes!

Really freaking sweet house. Like a poster before asked, you got a final figure on what it cost? Maybe it's been said before, but how many sqm is it?
Johnny English
Sq metres is a bit tricky 'cos we were restricted by planning on the house layout. In effect we were only allowed to build a "chalet" style like you can see. This means you build up into the roof area - rather than having 2 floors AND a roof loft. Also you can only have 66% living space upstairs relative to the ground floor.

So the house ended up like a pyramid. Upstairs is quite small, and the master bedroom is frankly quite pokey 'cos we wanted any extra space for the 2 boys rooms and bathroom. It is only 3 bed, 1 bath upstairs. But then we built a monster cellar that also goes under the garage. So I think the official "house" is about 170 sq metres, but cellar is probably another 100 with spare room, extra bathroom etc. And garage is about 60sq metres.
Hutcho
Nice, cellar sounds awesome - big cellar is definitely something I want. How about the cost?

*bump*
so we´re in the process of having a house built, thanks for your advices JE. this makes a really interesting & useful read.
