but I wrote them an e-mail a few weeks ago now, and have never received a reply, which is very bad customer service in my opinion...

I'm still waiting on my reply too.
amimuc
I ordered from them 8 days ago, which isn't too long, but I'm annoyed that they didn't give me a tentative delivery date. I sent them an email today inquiring about my order and got some smart ass reply. This is definitely the first and last time I order with these people.

Today I have reported these guys to http://www.spamcop.net/ , I have requested multiple times to be removed from their mailing list. mad.gif

I placed an order at the weekend and have received an order confirmation, but no expected delivery date as yet.
I'll keep an open mind and let you know how everything progresses.

I've always found them very helpful and any cock-ups quickly rectified. Yes, they sometimes substitute an item that you don't really want or tape the money on the receipt for things they couldn't get but don't forget they haven't the logistic apparatus that people like Amazon have. Look at it as a country "shoppe" in rural Wales, be thankful they send you anything and that it doesn't smell of moth balls wink.gif

Janx Spirit : it's called professionalism and I find that FFH lack it.
Janx Spirit
Well false, that's what I meant about it being like a quaint country shop - you can't expect that level of professionalism. If you want professionalism then you have to pay for it like http://www.fortnumandmason.com/ or http://www.harrods.com/Cultures/en-GB/Home/homepageindex.htm

Can you get Tennessee Pride hot sausage?
I would also like to get Renegades and/or Copenhagen pouch tobacco and long cut. Its a southern thing.

I think when it comes to good old southern stuff, I am making my mom ship me stuff over. As long as it won't go bad in transit.

Hmmm...My mom is going to hate me...

I was away for the weekend and I'm pleased to say that during that time, my package arrived promptly and was left with a neighbour.

Overall I have no great complaints with this service based upon my experience from this one order.
The order was placed, acknowledged and promptly delivered, so I am pretty happy.

Perhaps I have two comments which may be improved for next time:

1. Delivery charge
When I placed my order online the system seemed to state that the price was including delivery, but when I received my order confirmation, I had been charged an extra €5 for delivery.

2. As this is a business purchase, I would have liked a receipt to have been included with the delivery. There was no paperwork, just my goods.

I will address these two points with specific questions during my next order, but overall, these two minor points won't stop me ordering again.

Shipping costs here: http://foodfromhome.de/index.php?section=8

also the costs are listed in the email when you receive your order confirmation. (And €5 is damn cheap anyway)

I have always had a receipt in the package, maybe it got lost amidst the packing paper. I'm sure if you email them they'll send a duplicate.

Just wanted to add some positive feedback.

I placed a large order that was scheduled to be delivered in 2 drops, the first went smoothly but the second got into an unholy mess with the delivery firm cocking the job up truly.

Talked to ffh and Stephi told me to throw away the ruined frozen food and immediately despatched my order again resulting in a happy boy at this end. smile.gif

Cockups happen but it's the way they are dealt with that matters in my book.

anyone have an idea where i can get some cheez-its?
Sophia-Eiseley
Cheez-its and Cheesy poofs! tongue.gif Find someone in the US military and beg them to shop for you. They have bunkers of the stuff, even the most coveted "White Cheddar" cheez-its! <drool>
L8knight
I used to have a source in the military but he got reassigned. Thankfully he is on his way back in March and will be even closer so I can make my once-a-month shopping trips smile.gif For now I have my mom or friends send me stuff in the mail. I have to say its not expensive and even through the normal mail gets here pretty quick. I just got a good size box of spices, baking mixes and assorted items and the shipping from Chicago was only $8 and I got it after only 5 days. I think one of the bake mixes on that website cost more than my shipping charges and my mom got the mix for $1 at the grocery store. blink.gif

can't get any of the links for FFH to work, hopefully they're still in business??
Editor Bob
Works for me: Food From Home. They're definitely still in business. Must be a problem at your end.
Moonboot
phew thanks...my colleague tried and it doesn't work so that'd support the 'my end' theory. we'll try again later smile.gif

Dont the English call their cigarettes "faggots" as well???
crusoe
Fag, not faggot. Wiki, of course.
garibaldi
There is a wonderful selection of fags to be found in German supermarkets as Johnny English will testify.
AshleyM
Hmm..anyone have any special requests? I may be able to smuggle some cheeze-its for a fee... cool.gif jk
Root-beer...peanut butter...snickers bars and twix...I have got the goods!
eurovol
One Butter Ball turkey please.

Placed an order yesterday on-line. No problems. Order confirmed by e-mail.Looks to be a good service. Will add feed-back after order arrives.

I ordered back in November but forgot to transfer the money. Last week I remembered but realised that it would be a tight squeeze to get the stuff needed for Christmas to me on time. I called them today and they were brilliant. They checked through everything and then called back on my mobile to confirm that it was ok to change one brand of Christmas pud for another and that it was packed and ready to go. Really helpful and it looks like the Christmas crackers will be there for the dinner smile.gif

Of course if the package doesn't arrive on time I will be swearing roundly at them and posting nasty comments here wink.gif

Hello All,
I had such a hard time ordering from this store (nothing I wanted in stock or it would be delivered Jan 13th) that we went to the store. The first thing is, I am glad I went with my husband (big English guy with a beard) because the area was horrible. The selection at the store was horrible. Almost everything from Tesco which is ok, but there were so many things they did not have. The attitude was less than desireable also. Sort of a "oh well thats what we got, take it or leave it" attitude. I was NOT impressed although I did get what I wanted. I will not use them again. Too much hassle and too much attitude. Some things are cheaper here. For instance I can get Heinz baked beans at the corner Comet store for .99.

We have a friend who works for Sainsburys, we will send him money and have him ship things!

Oh and one more thing. There were actually about 3 American items. I think they had Bisquick, snickers and something else.

I've just placed an order for the first time, and silly me didn't check in time if the payment page was secure. After clicking the order button I noticed that it wasn't! Since I chose to pay by credit card rather than bank transfer I'm a bit worried about this. Has anyone else had this issue?

Anyone got any ideas where to get Aussie food in Germany? The "Australia Shop" is pretty expensive, and only has the basics - Vegemite, Fosters (ok, VB and Carlton too) and Minties. I'm looking for Milo (I've found it in Germany before - in an Asian grocery in Rheinland-Pfalz), classic TimTams and Allens Strawberries & Cream lollies.

Anyone know where there are Canadian products?

You think its tough finding Aussie, Brit or American products but you try being Canadian. Everyone thinks we're just Americans with healthcare. But no no, we have our own products...

I am particularly looking for Ketchup chips (Lays) and Clamato juice (yes, that is tomato juice with clam juice in it). If anyone has seen these before please let me know. Someone told me maybe KaDeWe but I haven't gone to check yet.

P.S. For the chips, I know Walker makes ketchup chips but trust me on this, they do not hold a candle to the Cdn original.
Mik Dickinson
Saying that GTM if you look at the packaging on Lays it is so simuliar to Walkers its frightening
SpiderPig
Thats probably because they are owned by the same company... rolleyes.gif
Mook32
Hey GTM, you might try Melody's(sp) Canadian store if you ever get down to Munich, or maybe drop her a line and see if she carry's what you're looking for and can ship a care pack up to ya?

like Mook said Melody's in Munich has Canadian product, she also has a web page and you can order things like Clamatto juice. Lays she doensn't have, but in saying that you are obviously an Easterner, for in the west we only eat Old Dutch chips. ;-)

Thanks!!! I don't see ketchup chips but it's got a great selection of micro-brewery beer and clamato juice.

Yes I am from the east, Québec to be precise. If I were truly patriotic I'd eat Humpty Dumpty chips but frankly they're not as good. The ketchup flavour just isn't the same :-)

I know Walkers are Lays, they are both owned by Pepsi, but their ketchup flavour isn't as strong, I guess that's how the local market likes it. I on the other hand like ketchup chips with the extra boosted flavour. When I lived in London, they got a shipment of Lays Ketchup chips at the Canada shop every so often and if you didn't visit the store on the day, you were out of luck, they were all gone.

Would you believe that despite this obsession for ketchup chips I eat my fries with mayo?
jtw
Shouldn't you be looking for Miss Vickie's? I guess Frito-Lay franchises them now, but I believe they're originally Canadian and very good.

If you ever find some tell me... I also miss good Lays Ketchup chips... oh and "Crottes de fromage" wink.gif

I've been to Munich also and got some beer... but no chips, maybe if there's some demand she would try to get some.
Allershausen
Kaufland sell Lays crisps/chips, but only in Paprika and Salted flavours. This is Germany after all, you can't expect interesting flavoured crisps.

I have tried to order from FFH 3 times and gone to the store twice. On the orders, each time I placed an order I was told the items were available and charged for them. Then the next day emailed and told most of the items were not available and I would have to pay additional shipping when they came in. All 3 times I canceled the orders. The 2 times I have been to the store there has been very little on the shelves but loads of boxes sitting around everywhere in the dirty unkept store.

The first time I chose the few things available and was told that the items in the boxes were for mail order only. The second time I chose again from the few items on the shelves and then was told I could pay with my EC card.

These people seem to think we should be glad they let us shop in their dirty, unkept, unstocked store. I for one had chosen to use the Koln English store. Things are fractionally more expensive but the shipping is much better and you actually GET what you order.

News flash for FFH, we do have options!!

Just realized that it's nearly Halloween and had a craving for candy corn. Tried "Food from Home", however the name appears only to apply if your "home" happens to be in Britain. From the similar complaints I've read by Canadians and Australians, us Yanks aren't the only ones struggling to figure out how "Food from Home" defends its name and use of any one else's flag.

Any tips on how I can quench my candy corn craving and introduce my colleagues to the joys of food with zero nutritional value, but lots of good memories of trick-or-treating?
Bipa
You can get candy corn on EBay.de but it's a little pricey.
chris8tine
Phew, no kidding! Thanks for the tip, though.

can anyone tell how these guys are??? I am trying to order some stuff for the 1st time and would like to know
whether they´ve improved their services after reading all the comments above?

Would like to know before I transfer the money.

Thanks all
Alittlegreen
they are HORRIBLE If you want to be screwed around over and over and then finally told a week before Christmas that your items were never available. If you want to get year old items and be charged over the odds for them then this is your place!!

If you want exceptional items at a good price when you order them I suggest the Cologne English shop. Great people, great quality no problems. http://www.english-shop.de/

Hi
Have to admit have made the same bad experiences as Alittlegreen with FFH!! Terrible service!! Don´t reply to mails and never have stock,,,,
Thanks for the tip on the english shop, just had a look and will def try them out!

Just adding some feedback as i recieved my parcel of goodies from FFH today. After reading through the experiences of others i was a bit dubious about placing an order with them, but happy to report everything went smoothly. Order was placed on the 8th of November and recieved today. I recieved both a comfirmation email of my order as well as an email letting me know when my parcel was on the road to my place which i would track on its journey. Everything was correct in the order, and very well packaged together to ensure safe delivery of the food. I even got a Chrissie card inside the box which i thought was a nice gesture. Reciept was also included in the box. I will definately be placing another order with FFH when the milo and salt and vinegar chips supply gets low. Very happy with service indeed!
Small Town Boy
Did they give a reason for taking ten days to get the parcel to you? I'd be expecting more like 48 hours.
carolinarua
You can get them directly from the UK in that time...2-3 days should be normal practice really
but glad that your experiences were better than mine, out of 6 products i ordered they could just deliver 2 with a later delivery of the third product 14 days later.
Derekbeggs
First time I ever used them, they were great, but we cancelled the next two orders we made. The first one because it took too long, two weeks and nothing arrived, and the second one because most of the things we wanted, they didnt have.

Having said that, they are always very well packed and the cold stuff is indeed cold when it arrives.
caitieindonauwörth
I assume the ten days as i did order it late on a Saturday night and it's plausable to think that the store was not open on a Sunday or processing orders, so they may have not started processing it till Monday and it left their dispatch on the Thursday. Considering the two weekends between my delivery the ten days to me seems reasonable. It also states on the website to allow 7 working days for order preperation and 3 days for delivery so also considering that as well, i think the delivery time was in good service.
Small Town Boy
Hmm, you sound very forgiving. They should have walked around their little store on the Monday morning, had it collected on Monday afternoon and it would have been with you on Tuesday morning. I recently bought an item on a Friday evening and it arrived on the following Wednesday morning – and this with a 48-hour delay whilst the Überweisung was being transferred.
Janx Spirit
I made a big order the week before last (well over 100 euros) and everything arrived (also got a Christmas card) with no hassle, breakages or missing items. Took five days.
