anyone fancy putting in a joint order to save on postage? the frozen/fresh items have an exta 6.50 on top of the standard delivery (which is fair enough considering) but if we get a few people together, it makes it more worthwhile ordering bacon and stuff. Any takers?

Faggots are British meat-balls in gravy. Usually chopped meat and onions with some herbs and stuff. Very tasty.
The word also refers to a bundle of sticks tied with string.

Wouldn't it be safer to just say "meatballs" in this day and age...

Faggots are "meat" balls - sort of burger-mince like.
I use quotes around the meat, as in the best tradition of English processed meat dishes, I would assume (*) that they'd only contain minimal amounts of meat, with great big helpings of breadcrumbs, onions, and starch, ear lobes, trotters etc...
(*) though please correct me if I'm wrong!

no. they were called faggots well before the Americans started mis-using the word.
QUOTE
A faggot is a kind of pork meatball, a traditional dish in parts of the UK, especially Wales and the Black Country. It was originally made from unwanted off-cuts of meat.
The dish saw its greatest popularity with the rationing during World War II, but has become less popular in recent years. Faggots are usually home-made, and are to be found on traditional butchers' stalls and in markets.
A popular dish is "faggots and peas", which is often served with gravy.
The best-known commercial brand is Brain's Faggots

Faggots are theoretically nice, often containing a lovely minced selection of variety meats, but ones from Iceland are going to be as foul as everything else from Iceland. Faggots normally contain stuff like pgs heart, lungs etc, but the Iceland recipe calls for 35% gristley bits of rankness.

ooo - faggots in gravy!
sometimes gristly bits of rankness are just what the doctor ordered

I could definitely be tempted

My mum was a nurse and said that they used "Imperial Leather" soap for washing the corpses in the morgue. So we used to have "Lux" in my house.

I just looked through the catalog with high hopes but there is very little American food on offer that is not already available in Munich. They had a wide selection of American baking mixes for cakes, brownies, muffins, pancakes etc. but who the hell needs that stuff? It's not like those are difficult baked goods to make! Now if they had a San Francisco sourdough baking mix, "just add water!" then I'd be excited.

Oooooh, I didn't see the black pudding! Now that *is* something to be excited about. I would definitely be interested in going in on a group order. I'm also looking at the sausages...can any of you Brits who know the brands let me know what the different sausages are like?
The sausages and black pudding are here.

Hi Folks
A dozen people have now tried Food From Home mail order service!
We had a run on Scotch pies. We think that might be down to Munich!

We hope you liked the service, We do know of one disapointment, which turned out to be an address error. The mistake was sorted out, and the consignment delivered.
We thought we should answer some of the questions posed here.
Bread Our bread is deep frozen in the UK and kept frozen right up to delivery to you! that way you have a fresh Roberts loaf to enjoy. Tastes great with melted Cheddar, Cheshire or Double Gloucester cheese!
Delivery Time Our service states 3 day parcel. However most orders are delivered next day from despatch! with about 20% taking 2 days. Any delays or shortages we email the customer.
Payment We accept Visa or Mastercard and these orders are normally processed within 2 days. A delay might happen if some items are out of stock and a delivery is due. Others prefer our pre-payment method. Once the funds arrive in our bank the order is processed. If the payment is higher than the order value we refund the difference straight away
Christmas These products are now on our website with more being added this week. Orders need to be placed early to ensure delivery. Our deadline for Christmas orders is 17th November. please order as early as you can.
Products not on the website! We have vehicles in the UK most weeks and if you want something special or not in our range let us know and we will try to obtain it for you.
Thank you for using our service

Just had a look at what was available. I noticed the Aussie flag in the logo and got a bit excited. There doesn't seem to be any Australian food available though.
Is this going to change at all? or is the Aussie flag merely decorative?
I'm hoping that it's just that suppliers haven't been worked out yet and it will come. On the other hand, I guess the Aussie food market would be considerably smaller and transport costs would be fairly high.

I ordered €90 worth of food from foodfromhome last week. Apparently, they messed up the order and the parcel is being returned to them now!!

Spoke to the girl there and she said she wrote the wrong address??!!
I now, have to wait another week for the order to arrive since it is Easter holiday now. Very dissappointed with this!
Not a pleasant experience for a first time customer.

I must say that despite my first order being messed up...the people at International Store were very helpful and cooperative. Kudos for that

.
I received my package at last, missing 2 items though...but they have promised to send the missing items.
I would definitely order again after my one month vacation in SEA.

I have used them about 10 times now. The service is normally prompt and I only had 1 can of spam missing. One time it took a lot longer than normal and I called them. They had held my order for a delivery to give me everything I had ordered. I would have liked to have been told rather than having to ask. Overall its nice to know I can get stuff without any hassle

First order was a disaster. Second order my salad cream never arrived. Third order everything went perfectly. Third time lucky. But since their prices are lower than the English shops in Munich, and they have far more stuff, I think it's ok if everything isn't perfect. I eat every last crumb of the stuff - whereas I might throw half the
Tengelmann shop into the bin! Wish they would get this delivery point set up in Munich.

They messed up my order too!
They put in a substitute item and didn't even try to contact me about it. So I got the money they owe me taped to the order form and an item I didn't want. There was a reason I ordered the specific product, I wanted it, if I wanted the other one I would have done so.

I've ordered from them a few times now, and last time I had this experience. One of the main things I order is squash - as much as i can at once. Last time I ordered 4 different flavours. When the order arrived, there was only one bottle of squash in there, and the 7,50 that the other 3 bottles had cost were taped to the receipt. There was a note saying that the other flavours I ordered hadn't arrived. What annoyed me about this was that there was no attempt made to get in touch with me and ask me what they should do. I would have had no problems either waiting longer for my order, or having them 3 other flavours replaced by the flavour they had. I order in bulk so as to only have to pay postage once, and their actions obviously completely went against that. They have my e-mail address and my phone number, so they could easily have given me a ring.
I don't really like complaining on a public forum about this kind of thing, particularly as I am generally very happy with their service and prices, but I wrote them an e-mail a few weeks ago now, and have never received a reply, which is very bad customer service in my opinion...
