Discovering German sci-fi TV

Does science fiction exist here?

Right, are any other sci-fi junkies in the house? Whose into what? I liked old school, (i.e. Captain Kirk) Star Trek, Stargate SG-1 its not the same since MacGyvers left the show though, so its off my list. I think I could get addicted to Lost, if I ever got to see it on a regular basis. In the meantime, I *heart* battlestar galactica now. FYI: For those of us that don't have bit torrent access to the new shows Sci Fi Network does pretty decent weekly summaries.

Anyhoo, I've had a look around and through the related threads but can't figure out if there is such a thing as German sci-fi. I don't mean dubbed over US imports, I mean real sci-fi made in Germany?

LEXX is a canadian / german co-production, done in english. Not every sci-fi fans cup of tea though.

Yey, another opportunity to drool over one of the actors in Lexx smile.gif
I can't think of any sci fi German shows. Lots of books though.

You could try Raumschiff Orion, it`s not too bad strange dance scenes after every mission in the base under the sea. There are still a lot of the cast working in German entertainment. I think you can get it on DVD, haven`t seen it my self for a long time. blink.gif

oh yea! that first series of Lexx was totally cool / bizzar / wild - and the German actress was hot, hot, hot! but in the following seasons, the cast changed, the storyline seemed to fade, and I lost interest until the final season, when the story line was again interesting. surely it is available on DVD somewhere.

lex wasnt that bad as i remember it. the original female star of lexx was very nice on the eye.

German TV was also carrying the 1st season of Stargate Atlantis! This was simply awesome!

Not on right now...

Enterprise - German TV is a bit behind but still carry it... being a TREKKIE as well...started watching the original on TV in the 60's (ok aging myself here) been watching all "TREK" stuff since...

Next Gen
Voyager
Enterprise

Deep space nine (not so fond of this one though)

Love science fiction

PS. Watched LEXX in Canada...found it a bit odd

thanks, will check out this lex business. does it require super fluency? i *am* specifically looking for shows in german, but don't know if i can do an dialog heavy show. i can follow the dubbed over shows if they've got a relatively good balance of chat to action. failing that, either ive seen them or the scene is self explanatory, i.e someone is getting zapped. so yeah, i hope its more zapping less yakking. biggrin.gif

anyhoo, thanks again, nice to know i'm not the only sci fi junkie around. smile.gif

"Raumpatrouille Orion" from the 60s is a real German classic (especially the sets and the stuff they used to make them look futuristic...). It hasn't been on TV for a while, but you can get it on DVD.
