Hello everyone,
so i am not sure if i should have posted this under "Oktoberfest", but anyways...so i just realized i have the outfit but not the shoes. the thing is i am only going for probably one day, since i am out of town for most of Oktoberfest, so i do not want to invest money in the shoes as well. but still, i am just wondering, what are the "traditional" shoes for the ladies to wear? and what do some of you gals wear? i guess i will have a look in my closet...
(i suppose my comfort is the only thing that matters in this, since i am sure after a couple mass people's eyes don't travel below the dirndl-ed breast area!)
thank you!!

wear trainers that you dont mind getting trashed... traditionally they have normal black high heels with it being rounded at the front... but most i know go for trainers.. cause its easier to continue standing up in

Shiny reflective ones work well too.

I'm personally not so keen on the trainers but flat shoes are a good idea.
Why?
Because beer makes you unsteady on your feet as it is, why try and cripple yourself with heels?
And think of the mud if it is raining (ain't called the Wies'n for no reason).
Mary-jane, rounded toe ballerinas or simple low-heeled court shoes do the trick. Even loafers can work. Many wear shoes with fancy lacing or buckles.
Those Trachten-style low-heeled boots are also popular, a blockier heel really is a good idea.
As for kinky boots, I change into them at home - well, home use innit!

oy, what to do, what to do? i do have plenty of boots of all sorts, stilettos and platform and...i'm a bit of imelda marcos when it comes to shoes
but i will have to agree that comfort, rain-mud-puke-resistant shoes are a priority. now, if i only had those...
thank you for the suggestions though!

There is a great shoe store next to the Comedy Club's place (whose name escapes me at the moment - and still 1 1/2 hours to go!) in Ruppertstrasse with so-called Haferlshuhe - low, thick-soled leather shoes in brown, black and dark green which will help you keep steady and protect you from any broken glass lying around. Don't forget the hand-knit scratchy grey socks.

I always wear knee high boots with my dierndl... then I can keep stuff down my boots like a comb, makeup brush, lippy, etc and no one knows. ... well apart from all of you now! Its a longer dierndl so you dont see the boots...well not until I start playing air guitar with my legs!!
That way, with the rest, more valuable stuff tucked into the non-existant space in my bra, I dont need to take a bag or anything
More tea, Vicar?

Rain? Beer puddles?
It really needs to be a nice pair of these then:
This is a good question. I've found some answers:

they look perfect for falling off the bench, but at least when they take you away in the little yellow coffins with windows they use to remove drunks and accident victims you will know that your shoes match the dress.

I wore my Teva sandles one year, could be arsed to pack more stuff into my day bag for after the hash. Currently looking thru shoe closet for a flat pair or either black or brown shoes. (call me Imelda- I own over 100 pairs here, and got something like 70 pairs in storage in Canada!

Ok, the above probably aren't the most practical.
I'm a big fan of the Landhaus stylee boots. Kind of fancy hiking type boots.

now those are DAMN sexy! (the blue and white of course...they match my dress)
Those blue and white babies are for men. Never mind that they cost more than a good pair of Lederhosen... we can always dream.

If the dirndl fits right, no one will be looking at your shoes (except for those kinky bastards with the boot fetish).
every man at the Wies'n has a boot fetish.

I saw three girls walking to the Wies'n in tracht on Saturday. All three were wearing WHITE PUMPS and nude pantyhose with their shorty dirndls. Ugh. Hideous to say the least.
I would avoid open-toed shoes, to save your toes from getting stepped on and since as the days go by and the Wies'n gets dirtier and dirtier, as well as heels as Katrina said, as things get slippery and messy. I'd also avoid wearing any shoes you would mind getting trashed. Those of us with cankles

don't look as good in the sturdier Doc M type shoes, so I head for the black shoe with a small bit of heel.
a boot with a small heel...hmm...sounds like a legitimate reason for some shoe shopping!

still having nightmarish flashbacks. i don't wear white shoes (I don't own a flirty nurse costume, ahem), but these weren't even nice looking pumps. oh the horror...

Sep 20 2005, 9:15 am
Oh, that'd be telling
A Bavarian friend of mine actually got a girl to take her hose off at the tent last night... told her how awful and tacky they looked with her lovely dirndl

I have to agree, she did the right thing...

I wore knee high boots on Saturday, and to be honest, I dont think anyone noticed them

... the heels are not too high, but I still had to be fairly careful when standing on the bench... but all in all, no problems...
The only ones likely to notice what you've on your feet are other girls, and keydeck.

You'd have to shoot me and stuff me to get me to join that bunch.
Brown or black boots, best types could also be used to climb Kilamanjaro. Spike heels not welcome. Never above the knee...

Always wear my knee high boots - comfy for long session at Wies'n and good protection from beer splashes, mud, vom etc.
Also, as I have a short dirndl I always wear cycling shorts underneath it too - really disappoints the Italians when they go for the skirt lift! (only been Italians in my experience, can't comment on other races.)

yeah it's Italian weekend this weekend innit...gah! two of my school mates are over and think the cycling shorts thing sounds like a good idea...one of a.m.mates got picked up like a bowling ball by a manky Italian who thought he was a gynaecologist or something last year.

Leider nicht. I think it happens a lot, the bike shorts are a good idea, and don't go to the Wies'n with your eyes closed.
It's basically a 17 day long frat party with a few hundred thousand guests.
