Restaurant choices

This will be my third trip to Munich and I will be staying in Lehel because all other hotels I checked are booked for early October. This area looks to be very pretty but it seems to be a sleepy part of the Zentrum. Can anyone recommend good eating in Lehel? dry.gif

I checked the TT restaurant list for Lehel and it has several places listed with no reviews or comments.

Thanx!

brokenm and jml live over in "L-town". I'm sure they'll have a few pointers too.

jml's local Tattenbach kicks ass. More later...now back to the powerpoint presentation...Shite.
Moonboot
El Pollo Loco is on the list...we've eaten there a few times it's a very cosy place and the food, not to mention the cocktails, were great!
Owain Glyndwr
Sitar Indian Restaurant is one of the better ones in Munich.

For Sushi, I hightly recommend Oni Sushi on Christoph Str.

Lehel's pretty central, so don't feel limited to that area. You could walk or take the U-Bahn to other areas of town.

What hotel - will you be near the tram or the UBahn? If the weather is nice I say go to one of the bier gartens, if its not so nice then I'd give a nod to the Sitar for Indian, Tattenbach's is very good german food, not a bad place to hang out solo but the smoke in there gets very thick. Roosevelts is also a good place for a drink but they don't serve anything by way of food. All are located around the UBahn.

Hop on the tram 17 (well i guess its 39 right now) and you have loads of choice, Islay if your looking for a continental type meal and a nice glass of whiskey. Or, get of at the Reichenbach platz stop and you'll be a block away from the Marienneplatz and Schranenhalle. Lots of choices there.

But yeah, UA's right no need to limit yourself to the hood. Its central enough to go anywhere.

smile.gif Thanks very much for the restaurant references in Lehel! We are staying at the Adria Hotel on Liebig Strasse it is near the U Bahn at the Anna Kirche and the Thiersch Platz I believe. Can't wait to get back to Bavaria! SEP4

wink.gif Hi sep4 !
The Tattenbach is recommended for bavarian food - smoke is normal in a bavarian restaurant. The Liebighof is better, but more expensive. Forget the "Tengs", Triftstr.1 - they serve terrible food!! Try the "Barbecue Rib House", Paradiesstr. 8, Lehel - it´s worth to come and the "Sitar"!

enjoy your meal!

If you want something special, try Les Cuisiniers (closed Sundays). Very good French food, fresh ingredients, inspired cooking. Noon menus good value for money, reservation recommended in the evening.
