Now moving onto the sex part of the sexual nature of this forum, can anyone recommend tried and true shops/and/or toys here in munich. God, am i gonna get it, with the quoting and the smug comments to come. Of course i don't mean kaufhof...just don't want to end up in one of the seedy places by hauptbahnhof. to the san franciscans out there, specially the ladies, something like" good vibrations"?!! unsure.gif THANKS!!

Well, considering how many advices i got with my "non-chain clothing shops" thread, somehow i am not sure about this shopping outing.

Ladies First is the kind of place you're looking for--pleasant atmosphere, decent selection, no men allowed (except Tuesdays when men are allowed in with their partners).

However, pretty much everything is overpriced. sad.gif

There is a nice Women's sex shop on Küfsteinstr (sp?) just between Josephspl and Hollenzollernpl. But only for Women!
MonksTown
...but that shop has been seriously complained about by some TTers for poor service and bad attitude. Allegedly. Lasses could always head to town to a regular sex shop with a trusted girlfriend in tow to scare off any pervs like.
Carm
Are you kidding- the women was so nice to us (DDBug and myself), we got to try all the different body powders and she was very helpful with some of the ... books and stuff. Even gave us catalogues and free big bag of gummi penises. I would definatly go back!
Saan
I have to agree with Carm, the service at Ladies First is very very friendly. But the prices are not so. The particular item I was searching for was €35 there but only €15 at one of the typical sex shops--the exact same product. For me, the comfort of shopping in a cozy women's only sex shop is not worth such exorbitant prices.

Does anyone else have some suggestions of nice shops?

I'm just posting up what I have heard... wink.gif

Being a boy, I can't go in there so I can't talk from personal experience - I've never been in a sex shop anyway. <Polishes halo>

Beate Uhse is a large chain, otherwise it depends what kind of stuff you´re in to.. try Müllerstrasse (Sendlingertor end) .. there´s a shop there, forgotten its name, opposite ´Bugs´. Update: I think it was called Spexter.
Topsy
Spexter is a gay S&M shop
Not that there's anything wrong with that, like, but I thought I'd just point that out.

Still has all the standard things though biggrin.gif

There's a good shop near Westend with lots of toys and togs. You have to take a bus a few stops past there. If you PM me next week I can tell you where it is. I found it by accident because it's on the corner you have to pass to get to the Apotheke which has/had American crutches. It has a better selection than any Beate Uhse I've een in. Highly recommended.

woof.

but you wouldn't get many heterosexual DVD's in there, though

btw, a good friend tells me there's a far better and friendlier gay S&M shop round the corner at Thalkirchenerstr. 5
it's only open evenings, though

There is a Beate Uhse smack in the middle of Marine Platz on kaufingerstr as well. Both men and women are allowed.

there's a big store in hauptbahnhof on the way down to the S-bahn section...

There are some shops off of Sonnenstraße near the Deutsches Theater. There's also a big sign that says "SEX" on Tal down near Isartor. I'm pretty sure that leads to a shop down the alley from the sign.
Darkknight
On Kaufringer strasse, about 100m from Karlsplatz. Walking towards
Marienplatz its on your right. I believe it's a Beate Uhse

There's also a place on Lindwurmstraße. Though I'm not exactly sure if it's a sex shop or if they just sell hooker clothing.

There's a kinky gear shop on Rosenheimerstr opposite the curry house called Domination i think.
Tbunny
there is also a store on Frankfurter ring just outside the Ubahn station (Frankfurter Ring)

there's a few shops up on that corner, some to buy "equipment" and one a bit further up the road to rent people.

Eleanor Rigby
There are also a number of cheap, grungy video and toystores across the street.
The type of store that a single girl would never dare to enter on her own.
Dodgy area except for Ganesha.
acockreland2balls
would recommend Beathe Uhse on Kaufingerstrasse or near the Hauptbahnhof and also Sex World on Sonnenstrasse but one that always seems to be the best value for money is a place - sorry don't know the name - on Schwanthalerstrasse between Sonnenstrasse and the Deutsches Theater (same side as Deustches Theater).

other than that almost every neighbourhood seems to have an 'erotica store' in it within the Mittlere Ring...
Yeti
Go to Orion on the Frauenstraße 20, near the Viktualienmarkt.

Miles better than the thick curtains/grubby anoraks end of the market and it's right in the center of town.

The staff are friendly and the shop is clean and modern.

a sort of chain adult shop

Well if it is chains you're after there's a place in Schwabing that sells all kinds of "unusual clothing" and so on, somewhere between Hohenzollernplatz (or however it is spelt) and Leopoldstr. At least there was a few years ago when I used to live in the area, no idea if it is still open (he says hastily).

Incidentally, am I the only one amazed by the near encyclopaedic knowledge of Munich's sex shops being displayed by the membership of this site?
DJ_Jazzy_Guff
There's one near me on Schleißheimerstr that even has it's own private cinema if that's more your scene. On my way to work a month ago I saw a bloke coming out of there at 9am with half a roll of toilet paper in his hand. Some people are just wrong.
