Wallis is pulling out of Germany the end of December 2005. You heard it here first. Get to the
Kaufhof concession while you can -- they have loooots of black pantsuits right now. Other stuff too, they also get new stuff every Wednesday and will until the end, so it'll probably be worth it to go now and again. Actually it looks like right now all they've got is
Empress and they've not got all that's on the website. Good for an idea though.

That's it - I'm moving. Ridiculous! Wallis is one of the only places where I can find pants that fit.

I also like Wallis.

What a shame. Now I'll have to be wearing my old clobber for even longer!

I'm not a petite, but I was really pleased when I spotted Wallis in
Kaufhof yesterday lunchtime. And now it's going.

God, what a bummer - there are few enough places that cater for us shorties - another one bites the dust! Will have to bulk buy at Xmas! Just got a "schnäppchen" down in Vienna - smart trousers for EUR 25!

so, is there anywhere else to get trousers with a 30/31 inch inseam? Damn tall German women :/

you can get horrible ones in
Kaufhof, I think
I just stock up when I get home nowadays
I still can't believe Wallis closed down.

I was in a shop on Donnersbergerstr. two years ago and all of the pants had a 34 inch inseam. So I asked, "why is it like this here?" the girl proceeded to tell me that ALL of the fashionable clothes are like that FROM AMERICA, she was a little rude snob about it as well. So I responded that after spending 27 years in America, I can "assure you that you can purchase trousers, jeans etc in various lengths." She flat out told me I didn't know what I was talking about. So I asked "have you ever been to North America?"---answer, "no".
I gave up then and just started ordering from the States. Anne Taylor has wonderful trousers and Victorias Secret has some every day trousers in a 30 inch inseam. But I pay SO much for the shipping, customs etc.
We have to band together and do something about this!

All become seamstresses? hehe
p.s
did I spell that right? I am too lazy to get the dictionary today

so the whole of WALLIS is going then (ie not just the Petites section?) what a shame!
a teeny tiny Italian friend of mine did a trouser-shortening day course at the
Volkshochschule, she recommends it to other vertically-challenged women.
Oh yes I got two pairs of Ann Taylor petite pants in SFO over Xmas, they're fabulous. So nice to put on pants and just have them fit! I wouldn't order them though, as some looked good and some didn't, even though they did all fit. But it's not all about the inseam, there's also the rise...

yes, the rise thing is an issue as well. I am sick of low rise jeans that show people's butt cracks when they sit. While we are damning Tall German Women, let's damn Britney Spears as well.

Another thing that is important for me when selecting trousers is that they should be lined. To me, a lack of a lining is a lack of quality. And all of the trousers at Zara seem to lack a lining. I was at Konan a couple of weeks ago and found some Max Mara trousers that were lined. They actually weren't that expensive. The Anne Taylor trousers are over 100$. But I bought a pair 7 years ago and they are still in great condition.

It's gone already.
I think they left in December.
Gen, if you got one of their basic lines, the fits are usually the same in identical materials. i.e. all triacetate madisons size X fit me perfectly. the fits could differ between say triacetate and cotton or linen but within fabrics they seem to be consistent. ive ordered entire suits online from AT with good results.

If anyone ever wants to order, I have a U.S mail forwarding service that repackages and allows you to state what you want on the customs form in order to save money. They also consolidate the packages, this helps save on shipping as well.

hear hear. I bought a pair of Levis 515 from
OEZ, dark wash, boot cut 31' inseam. I dont really *love* the jeans - and you really have to wear them with boots or they look dorky - but my ass crack has been out of sight since.

I tried on a pair of True Religion jeans at Grace at
Karlsplatz. Looked good but at 250€ a pop, I passed.
did you get the levis from the levi store in OEZ? They are so expensive here!!! I order them on ebay from the states.
Congrats on finding some jeans that just say "no" to crack..hehe
Yeah but I got luck and hit a big sale. They were 59euros which didnt seem to be bad. I usually buy my jeans in the US from the Gap though so dont know how that compares to Levis prices in the US. Did the true religion jeans come in petite? I keep jeans forever and wear the hell out of them...

Esprit have a line called "Short" which might work. I buy a lot of jeans in Esprit as they have so many different styles which suit. They only show the "crack" if you don't wear a belt but sometimes not wearing a belt is nice if you are wearing a fitted top.

You might want to try
www.landsend.de - you can have some of their trousers (jeans included and they have higher cut jeans) hemmed to the right length for you or you can order them unhemmed and have them done professionally - not cheap but they are good quality.
For jeans I usually go to GAP, as there shorty range fits nicely.

do GAP deliver to Germany?
knusper_muesli
Feb 2 2006, 10:17 pm
No, they don't - they only have an online shop for the US (and military bases, but...)
As another resident short person I can also attest that Esprit has short jeans that are not too short - so no highwaters. For me the magic number is 31" inseam - 30 or 29 is just way too short, and 33 or 34 way, way too long.
They also have high street stores in Germany.
There's one just off
Kaufinger str. if I remember correctly.

Yes, you must have confused something

They definitely closed in summer 2004, I picked up a lot of stuff in their sales.
