That Dallmyr place makes nice cakes. Dont know if you could pass one off as your own though. Otherwise pay off a TTer to make you a cake. Theres lovely bakers on this board. Self most definitely excluded dry.gif

What kind of cakes? Cream cakes, sponge cakes, birthday cakes..

get some Duncan Hines mixes sent with some double choc icing from home! I buy cake, cookie and muffin mixed at home and bring them back.

There is a farmers market every thursday at Rosenkavalierpl and there is a stand that makes great crepes, and they have home made cakes- they are so yummy! Not your typical german cakes that are dry and crumbly!

http://www.cafe-kubitscheck.de/ -- I just met the guy who runs this place today and I know he bakes cakes for occasions like weddings etc. Worth a shot. Retro 50's style Cafe near the Waldfriedhof.

That would probably depend on where "home" is.

I just bake my own and take some along for the kids at school. They love my cakes! tongue.gif

You realise that cakes contain butter that comes from poor suffering cows. Most of whom have mastitis for half their lives because of the ridiculous milk yields that are forced from their udders. So that you can make cakes!
I thought you liked cows, obviously selectively. ph34r.gif

Hi Cow,

Great! So how do you make the cakes? A tried and trusted recipe could do.

No nmh,

Back home in village I used to milk my own cows and I just assume people are as considerate with theirs as I was with mine.

at Hertie at Hauptbahnhof there's an American section where you can get Betty Crocker cake mix and icing that's yummy. It's easy to make and it tastes like heaven. I suggest Devil's Food Cake and white icing.

Recently I bought a a fresh fruit-cake from Tangelmann, and it was wonderful. As good as home made. You can try your luck there...
kalidas
Thanks Bhupesh and Moi, I'm going to try both of these.

Since I know there are a lot of TT bakers out there, I'm looking for someone to bake a simple, yet unique two-tier wedding cake.

Or - recommend someone in Munich who specializes in such!

I like the simplicity of this cake. Minus the fruit, etc ... however, it could be replaced with creme roses/green leafs.

Go on Thursday afternoons to St. Annaplatz (U4/U5 exit Lehel). They have a small market where it is known to have the best cakes in Munich. They are all homemade. There is usually a line of twenty people, so get there early if you want a larger selection.
willy
Thanks Brokenm!! Do you know how to contact the bakers before hand? It would be a lot easier to pre-order and then pick it up on a Thursday ... since I'm in Frankfurt and won't be in Munich, well, until the Thursday before the wedding!! Might work!

If you look here the market is listed under Lehel.

If you click on the link it will take you here.

This seems to be for every bauernmarkt in Munich. On the people who participate that might bake the cakes (under Marktbeschickter), I only see this listing as appropriate:

Nr.: 37
Name: Plöckl Josef
Adresse: Dorfstr. 43 85232 Oberbachern
Telefon: 08131-78903
Fax: 08131-668239
Mail:
Homepage:
Sortiment: Gebäck, Zuckermais, Sonnen- blumen, Gestecke, Bauernblu- men, Pudding, Dessert, Kaffee

Bauernmärkte:
6, St.-Anna-Platz im Lehel

But, personally I believe that it is a group of elderly ladies who live around the Church who sell the cakes. So, it might be better to contact the market organisers by e-mail and ask, here are their contact details:
