Jude Law is SO dreamy! Did you see him in last month's Tiger Beat!?!?!?

I think even in Road to Perdition he still looked soooo sexy!!!

I kinda lost respect for Jude after hearing about how he left his wife and kids to move in with some hottie ten years his junior. That whole "family man" image he had going on was one of the things that made him attractive to me. Whatever.
I've been looking forward to Cold Mountain for over a year (even though I've heard from stateside friends that it's nothing more than a vehicle for Nicole's beauty). Anyway. Count me in.

A friend of mine said you better bring a packet of tissues for when you go to see it, a very emotional movie.

Am I the only person around who thinks that Nicole Kidman is far from beautiful?
As for Law, wife and kids...hottie 10 years his junior...the guy is younger than me for Christ's sake!!! I guess I haven't lived.

Nope, I think she is remarkably average.

By all accounts Nicole Kidmann is a royal bitch, but that does not take away from the fact that she is stunningingly beautiful.
In fact I even stopped liking Tom Cruise for the childish reason that he got to sleep with her.
Ehh what is Cold Mountain about ?

She's exceptionally pale. Needs to get out in the sun a bit more. I know she's got a very pale complexion (redhead and all that) and she'll get a few freckles, but it would at least make her look a little less like a corpse.

Well, i can vouch for the movie, it is great! And yes tissues are required. All I can say in relation to the Jude comments are, I thought that way too till I saw him on the big screen. His devilish grin has changed my thoughts on that...
Grabs coat and walks out with dreamy look on face...

hopefully y'all have first read the book. if the movie showed later I'd go, but don't get in til 8.30.
seems utterly ridiculous that they'd cast an australian and a brit to do this movie. only renee zellweger is a true southerner. am sort of disappointed in hollywood for that.
The book is a nice read.

pretty or not, what I wouldn't give to be her for 5 minutes just to have that righteously attractive man laying one of those kisses on me...mmmm,mmmm,mmmm!
wait, but make that at least 10 mins...

@Drivinwest & Hazza
If you would ever met Nicole Kidman in person, you're opinion would change
drastically ... it's amazing how 'one woman' can radiate as she does ... she
literally lit-up the entire room!!
There are very few people in this world ... that can do that ..

folks, is it ok if we all meet at 6:45? Then we don't have to worry about them giving our tickets away (they cancel the reservation if we don't pick them up half an hour before ).
I've got ballet til 6 and then have to get across the city but should be able to make it for then.
If not then the confirmation numbers are :
44 name : Rebecca
43 name : Marczak 5 tickets for each reservation
See you later !

Sorry,

My model for movie vs. book is: Movie-Book-Movie
That way I get a feel for the characters, the scenery, the set, the emotions first.
Then I read the book and get so much more out of it. Plus I'm terrible with names, so that helps.
Then the movie again and I pick up so much more the second time from reading the book. A sort of character study in a way.
I have had the book on my shelf for several months, waiting for the movie.
Gotta work tonight.

Prefer to read it first or I find the imagery and interpretation aspect is totally missing - I just imagine the characters to be those that I saw on the screen a few weeks back. Read High Fidelity and then watched it - not a bad film, but a pale interpretation of the book - and moving it to Chicago? Bloody American rubbish if you ask me. Glad I read it first.

Haven't paid for the tickets yet so not a prob beans. We've reserved too many tickets so if you want to pick them up in case I'm a bit late then don't get all 10, just get them for the people who are there then.

Agree with Jimbo so I do. I definitely prefer to read the book first, if it came out first. The author crafted a story and you create a visual image of the characters & scenes in your head. I saw Absolute Power before I read Baldacci's book, so when I did get around to reading it, I had the film makers view, complete with Clint, rather than any imagery that the author intended. Film is easy & ruinous because everything is provided for you. Once again removing the need for people to think.

If i read a book first I get disappointed that the characters in the movie dont look or sound the same as the ones ive seen in my head... For example the litary works of J K Rowling (Harry Potter) were wonderful and I felt that the movie was a poor substitute for ones own imagination.
I should be there at seven but due to minding kind may be a bit late!

I should be able to get there by 6:45 to pick up tix before they give them away if that makes it easier on you becs or presh. how many do you think though? doesn't look like 10.
am at home watching Larry King Live on the Green River Killer. Between that and Sparkahecks pics, turning pretty green myself...

I'm going to get something to eat (pannini/pasta) at the little wine bar round the corner from the cinema as of about six. If anyone wants to join me??
Stand facing cinema, take the street on the right (Sandstr. I think it is) and it's just past the cinema exit tunnel - I can never remember the name of the place, its something like Aquamarine.
