i will be at the fest with 5 others on that weekend off the 24th
is it hard to get into the Schottenhamel tent on the saturday, what is best time to go ??
or what tent would any 1 recommend away from the touristy tents ?
couple of us lads are also happy for some Munich ladies to show us round

It's hard to get into any of the tents on a Saturday. Most will be full by about 11 and after that it depends on who leaves as to whether you'll get in or not. Schottenhamel is my favourite tent. It's definitely got the highest dirndl-count as far as I'm concerned and that's always a good thing.or what tent would any 1 recommend away from the touristy tents ?
They're all touristy but perhaps Fischer-Vroni or the like might be less so but Oktoberfest is primarily a tourist event so whichever tent you choose it's gonna be touristy.couple of us lads are also happy for some Munich ladies to show us round

We always got there around 9:30 (sometimes earlier) and played cards and drank beer...its not necessary unless you want a table right by the stage...

I*'ve found the Schottenhammel tent to be full of teenagers. But if that's what you're into...

Agree on the nutty aspect, but every tent is packed with internationals.Hofbräu for me means the people who want to get rat arsed as quickly as possible, grope as many people as possible and get laid as quickly as possible. If you are a single girl or in a group of girls my advice would be to avoid the Hofbräu, you're not missing anything and you'll reduce your chances of having a shit time.
Incidentally, dunno if it's been posted already but the SicherWiesn website has some useful info for wimmens.
Go to the Oktoberfest with friends and agree on a way home together.
Never go to the bathroom alone, even if it's a hassle.
Don't let boys or men whom you've just met accompany you home.
Even if someone buys you something, does not obligate you to return any sort of service.
If you drink alcohol, make sure it's only an amount with which you still are in control.
Don't leave your drink unattended (Someone could put drugs in it to make you lose your consciousness)
Make it clear when it's not fun anymore for you. A "Stop!" or "Enough!" makes it clear where your limits are.
Sometimes a comfortable funny situation only develops into an assault after a while. Here a "Stop!" is appropriate.
Often no one really responds to "Help!" or "Help me!". If you feel harassed or scared, address specific people directly and ask for help: "You with the red sweater….!"

I would recommend Augustiner, Hacker Pschorr and Schützenzelt and insist that you avoid Hofbraü at all costs. I hate it with a passion, but that's my personal opinion based on personal, very unpleasant experience.
Any women feeling uncomfortable (or bored) in the main part of the hofbräu tent should consider moving to the fenced off standing-only area in the middle, where you will be nicely looked after, underwear is however forbidden but a service will be provided where any underwear shall be removed free of charge and given to Alois to look after.

Speaking of naked breasts... some German lass decided to show her rack to everyone in the Hofbrauhaus the other night. Every customer near by encouraged her with cheerful wolf whistles and all that carry on (you know, team spirit and all) but security rushed over & put a stop to it. She had to leave (not sure if by choice or thrown out though).
