Just thought I´d post some quick notes about this exhibition. All this free time I currently have is nice (ends next week ) Anyway, I´ve been able to recharge my needs for the artistic. Went and saw this exhibition today at the Haus der Kunst (near the Englischer Garten/Hofgarten):

The exhibition costs 7€ (5€ reduced for students etc.) It´s on work by Robert Adams, a photographer. I recommend this exhibition, although it might not be for everyone.
I was very surprised to be at this exhibition in of all places - Munich Germany. I´m no expert on his work, and there´s no doubt a lot of info on the Internet. While the pictures would probably illuminate everyone, I think they´re really insightful for those from the West (USA). I grew up in Montana, and a lot of the issues he´s trying to convey are very familiar to myself - hence my surprise at seeing this in Munich.
He documents the transformation of the landscape (Western US, primarily Colorado and Oregon.) A transformation from rural, traditional America to urban sprawl/environmental destruction and the negative effects of the "US virtue of greed." I was struck by his description of coming back from College to Colorado, and finding that everything had changed - this was in the 60´s. The same has happened to me, my home state has been "discovered" and the changes are not all for the good...Maybe similar things are happening in Australia, or Russia...Anyway, I recommend this to those interested in environmental conservation, social studies, art, and especially in anyone from the American West. Cheers.
