I was PM'ing with TT's own Premiere contact regarding this, but figured with the season starting Thursday I'd post it to see if anybody had any info.
In looking at the Premiere schedules over the past few weeks, I noticed that recently the website was re-designed and the links to the NFL and NBA disappeared.
Today, I went to the NFL website and via
this link noticed that only AFN (Armed Forces Network) is listed as carrying the games in Germany. NASN does carry some NBA, but does not show NFL games. Maybe this is changing this year, but if Premiere dropped their coverage then it would mean no NFL in Germany this year!! The horror!
Of course, with no NFL or NBA coverage, I will probably drop my Premiere subscription

Perhaps moving to a satellite to get NASN UK if that's even possible. (NOTE: i don't want NASN Germany, it is way worse)

yes, according to mydigiguide NASN are showing live friday night NFL games and also have a highlights programme.
The Arc have NASN, i believe, so you should be able to watch the games there. They are on late at night (I think the coverage starts after 1am our time) so you may need to guarantee numbers to make it worthwhile staying open till the end of the match.
And yes, it is possible to get a UK satellite system and subscribe to NASN. You know who to ask about that, though, don't you.

You don't even need to get NASN for the NFL games. They have always got 2 games on a sunday and often the monday night game too. (but that's past my bedtime)
There is normally a repeat on saturday from the previous week too.
They are normally broadcast on Sky sports xtra! which is also subscription channel but you also get a whole bunch of other channels like about 8 different movie channels etc etc, so I think it is going to be worth it.
My system arrives in december so hopefully I won't miss too much.

ah yes! why didn't they show up on mydigiguide when i did a search?
never mind.
here is a link to the scheduled games on Sky Sports for the next few weeks:
NFL on Sky SportsEdit:
If you are not interested in British sports like rugby, football and cricket, NASN might be the way to go since you don't need a Sky subscription for it (IIRC). This means all you need is a free-to-view setup with a card (one-off fee, no monthly subscription). You can then subscribe independantly for NASN, which is about 1 pounds a month (again IIRC). If you go for Sky Sports, you pay over GBP30 per month, which is only worth it if you like the other sports and channels offered.

Thanks for the info. Owain, the NASN info might be inaccurate since the NFL does not play on Fridays. Regardless, this is all good to know. I'd probably lean towards NASN over Sky Sports since NASN is dedicated to North American sports. I will have to do more research though on pricing and what is included.
EDIT: Just realized that your NASN guide might be for early Friday morning since there is a Thursday evening game (US time) to open the season.

Yeah - Skysports, not NASN carries the NFL games.
We'll be showing the Sunday games live at
The Arc every week.

Excellent. So while there may be no NFL in Germany, at least there is a means to pick up the UK feed

I just checked with a well-informed journalism source who told me: "either they agree by Thursday or the tube will remain black all year" (with respect to NFL being broadcast in Germany). So, in a way, this is comparable to years past when the NFL and Premiere struck last minute deals. Let's hope they achieve the same this time around!

Is there any way to watch college football here in Germany?

For sure. Search around the boards and you'll find postings regarding the same question.
Here's one.Your best bet is to check what is showing on NASN and the games can be found showing at
The Arc. I'll be heading down for the
Michigan vs. Notre Dame game on Saturday.

What happened to the NFL on Premiere? Last year they had a game at 7pm, 10pm plus Monday night football.
This year I see squat on their schedule. A German friend of mine said the NFL still had not decided on who to sell the rights too. Has anybody else heard when or if Premiere will have NFL again this year. If not, who will?
Thanks

its official, no NFL this year on Premiere ... Premiere reported on their website that the negotiations between the tv channel and the NFL ended without an agreement for this year ... seems like we all are gonna eat a lot of burgers at
The Arc this year

NASN now carries NFL games in mainland Europe while SKY still has UK rights. Not to worry,
The Arc will still have the games.

I signed up today. There are two ways, I believe. In either case you need to have cable if I am not mistaken.
At Kabel Deutschland, there are two packages (HOME DIGITAL), for 9 EUR extra (in addition to the regular cable package). That one includes NASN and a bunch of other useful and useless channels.
Or you can sign up for their English language package for 4 EUR per month. That one also includes Sky News and CNBC in addition to NASN and another channel that escapes my memory right now.
I think if you have SAT, you are out of luck as far as NASN goes. YOu would have to somehow get SKy from England and catch the NFL games that way.

Yeah, that AND get NASN. I am cancelling my PW Abo and getting NASN. It's a bargain, in fact: save the horrendous PW rate and pay 9 EUR extra for Kabel Deutschland. Plus-Geschäft!

Yah, I'm trying to decide between NASN Europe via Kabel Deutschland or just getting a Satellite dish and getting NASN UK (better programming than NASN Europe) and Sky Sports. Satellite offers a lot more but is much more expensive.

Mr. Jarvii: What's the diff between NASN Europe and NASN UK? I don't see any program differences?? I wanna get NASN myself...probably will buy a digital cable decoder (and get the English package) instead of going the satelite route. I need my NHL hockey this season!!!

@perdido - NASN never had NFL rights at all until this year. Now they have 2 Sunday games per week i think. I think one of the Sky feeds gets Monday night (Five perhaps?)
@canuck - Big difference. NASN Europe is worse in every area except NFL now. Go to nasn.com and there's a link on the left to jump to the NASN Europe website. With regards to NHL, I think NASN Europe does not get it (only college hockey it looks like). I wish they were the same, it's much easier and cheaper to go with the digital cable option.
From the
FAQQUOTE
NHL (National Hockey League)
NASN does not currently hold the rights to the NHL in Europe.
and...
QUOTE
Are the program contents on NASN Europe and NASN UK exactly the same?
No, they aren't – the UK/Ireland feed is entirely separate from the European feed and has different programming. The sports rights situation in Europe is somewhat different to that in the UK and Ireland in that the same sports rights are not available across all European territories. As more sports rights have become available in the UK market, NASN has actively sought to acquire them giving us the broad range of rights that we currently enjoy on that channel. As further sports rights become available across other European territories, NASN will be actively looking to acquire additional programming for NASN-Europe but this obviously takes time in a very competitive market.

Dear All
I am the PR Manager for NASN and am able to tell you the following about our NFL coverage in Germany, which begins immediately, eg this weekend!
In Germany our new rights agreement translates into a minimum
of six regular season games per week. Four of these games will be shown
live – three on Sunday and one on Monday. Two more games will be shown on
Monday evenings “as live. Once the NFL enters into its postseason in
January, which culminates in the Super Bowl (this season in Detroit on 12
February), NASN will broadcast all 10 playoff games, the Super Bowl, plus
the league’s annual Pro Bowl and World Bowl, NFL Europe’s championship
game in June.
The companies that currently carry NASN are: Kabel Duetschland, Kabel BW, ish, iesy
The difference between NASN and NASN Europe is that we can only show some sports in certain countries, thus the need for different feeds.
I hope all this info helps!

Looks like Premera got the rights back to the NFL. Two games start tonight and they are advertising that they will have 2 games each Sunday night from here on out.
Anybody have any news on why or how this came about. I don't care though, I'm just thrilled I'll finally be able to watch some "real" football.
15 minutes till kick off!

"SKy from England"???

this is as bad as most germans!!

I suspect that the lack of potatoes in ur diet has caused a slight memory loss as to the location of Sky. U should (of course) have said it was, Great Britain and Northern Ireland (U.K.)and not one part of it. Feel free to check the company website for confirmation of their name if that helps.(as below)
British Sky Broadcasting is the operator of the UK's largest digital pay television platform and a leading broadcaster of sports, movies, entertainment and news
See how helpful are they? They even give most of the location in their name. Are so many people really this ignorant?
