Hi, one day on TT I saw an ad for "Employment Wanted" for a native English-speaker to do voice-over work. It got me thinking...maybe this could be something I could do as well! It would be fun and easy and there might be a market for it. There are plenty of horribly-accented English recordings all over the place, including in the S-Bahn. Does anyone have an idea where I could get more information? I do speak German so German websites, etc. are fine. Thanks in advance.

The Sbahn announcement is horrible because it's done by a text to speach engine, then pieced together. This way that can update it to say anything they want, and not have to spend $$$ to get someone in and re-record it...
If you travel around Germany and ride the S/U-bahns and certain busses in other Cities you will notice that it's the same voice...

98% incorrect.
The voice belongs to a woman from Köln. She did various versions of numbers with different inflections for the different insertion points they'd be used. Some announcements (such as times) are pieced together, others are straight recordings (station names, "pleass leaff ze tren on ze raight hend sayed", etc.)
BR featured her in a piece they did for a magazine show last year. A lot of locals are upset that they chose this woman instead of a Bavarian, but DB decided to be all multi-kulti.
woof.

I like the S8 announcements in English. You get to Ostbahnhof, and they welcome you to Munich East. Why they decided not just to call it
Ostbahnhof (like it is in EVERY damned map and guide in the world) I don't know.

Kristin, often a good place to start finding information is from people in the local theater scenes. many actors do (or try to get) voice work, for obvious reasons. be warned, it is often a highly competative industry (think "modeling").
another thing you might consider is offering yourself as an "accent / dialect coach". could be easy enough to start, by simply posting fliers in / around some of the local theaters...
