Screw shops

Ok i give up. Where in Munich can i buy screws. I only need four 1 inch screws.

Oh and FYI Ikea do not sell screws!

Basically you can buy them indvidually (they have little bags which you fill up and then mark with the appropriate quantity and code number for the cashier) or in multi-packs.

cheers for the info. Although i dont have a clue where any of these are... Are any of them around ost bahnhof or marienplatz? or do i have to make a special trip to Fraunhoferstrasse for 4 screws?

Talk a walk up Schwanthalerstr. There's at least half a dozen shops that sell screws. We use OBI but only 'cause it's close to home.

Near Marienplatz you have Schrauben Preisinger where you can get sorted too. Looks pretty good from the website.

Schrauben Mutter is fuckin' ace! You can buy a single screw in there. They do everything, BSPP, BSPT, M, NPS, NPSF, NPT, NPTF and PG.

But, the staff can be a bit "Hello Duckie".

Hertie at Hauptbahnhof (4th floor near the lighting I think, Stacchus end) sells screws.
I thought that this was an anti-Capitalism thread though at first glance.

I have seen screws and tools in Kustermann just off of Viktualienmarkt so not far from Marienplatz.

You can also try the DIY section of Kaufhof. I think I saw scres there and Treehugger: great minds think alike

near Ostbahnhof there is "Toom", which is a 5 minute walk. Right next to the Siemens building on Haidenauplatz.

try Hansastrasse though they are a bit expensive. but i hear you get all shapes and sizes

(boring old bloke back to the subject without adolescent sniggering alert) If you need somewhere central, I find Kustermann useful. It has an entrance from behind Marienplatz and one from Viktualienmarkt, so handy if you commute via Marienplatz. Screws (stop sniggering at the back, Smith) are downstairs on the Viktualienmarkt level. The service is German neanderthal, but they have a big range of all household stuff, so you always (eventually) find what you're looking for.
