Hi,
I've just come back from Klinikum Großhadern's Neurosurgery unit where TT's very own
Pootle is currently residing.
He looks to be on the mend but was in intensive care yesterday and I should know more when I go back during visiting hours (2pm-6pm) this afternoon.
Pootle was involved in an accident Saturday lunchtime in the city center where he walked past a building site and was hit by a falling building. No really.

He called me at 9am on Sunday to ask me to pick up something for him but didn't say where he was and saying that he was "müllered". Thus I had been looking for him (with the marvellous help of his colleagues at a certain company plus MonksTown - top marks fella) all over Munich since then. As a cure for a hangover (mine), it's a good one.

Polizeiinspektion 21 and to the team at
Klinikum Großhadern, who are looking after him (which is good because I need my mate back in one piece!).
If anyone has any messages for him or would like to visit themselves, please let me know.

Klinikum Großhadern is one of the best clinics for neurosurgery in Germany! He is in really good hands there. Have only seen him from afar at curry night, don't know him but I wish him a very speedy recovery!

wow! is he ok? anymore details. he contacted me on saturday about taking some pickies of the rugby and never turned up. i was going to pm him today. how long is in grosshadern? bugger this is all to much. get well soon ya big welsh daffodil!

Was meant to go for a coffee and he was on the way to me when he walked past a building site and got hit by a building (his words), so I got stood up as well. Is so unlike him that I started to get worried pretty quickly (and rightly so as it turns out).
Will have a better idea of how long he's in for and how bad it is (he's still got drains in for example) after I've been this afternoon.
Sin & gids I'll pm you the exact details of where he is, ok?

Get-well-soon-greetings to Poots. I know from experience that he's in good hands in Grosshadern. They'll keep him in for as long or as short as necessary. Intensive care does sound bad though
There are easier ways to get out of a GBV night out!

I really don't know all the details, he was on the footpath and not on the site. That's what the Police said.

Well, I know that Pootle's heart is as big as his head*, so he should be recovering quickly. I hope the best for him!

This is horrible news. Please convey my wishes for a speedy recovery. Any idea how long he'll be laid up? Does he need anything from the outside world: books, snacks, dirty magazines?

As said before, I'll know more later today.
He doesn't need a lot of fussing right now as it looks a very serious head injury so I'm trying to space the visitors out and not have him bombarded with tons of folk at once (thanks to Keydeck, showem, Grinner, Sin and gids there).
He hasn't made any requests so far for grapes, mags etc but I have asked. If he does need something, I'll let folk know (yes I'm being very protective of him, I know).

I almost had the same thing happen to me once, they were knocking down a building on Bayerstr. and the crane guy must have fucked up and all the rubble came falling down on the footpath about 10m infront of me :/

This has now been reported on the
police website.
A large piece of rock (15 x 10 x 5 cm) fell from the 4th floor, over the fencing into the pedestrian zone, and Pootle was hit. Something similar had already happened on the 24th (well, it fell onto the fence then into the secured area, but dust landed on pedestrians), which is why the police insisted the builders raise the fence's height, but obviously they didn't make it high enough.
Criminal investigators are now looking into it.

Nach dem Unfall wurden durch die Polizei die Abrissarbeiten sofort eingestellt.
Bereits am 24.08.05 fiel bei Abrissarbeiten ein Gesteinsbrocken auf den Bauzaun und anschließend in den gesicherten Bereich. Durch den herabfallenden Schutt wurde die Bekleidung eines Passanten erheblich verschmutzt. Nach erfolgter Anzeige bei der Polizei wurde der Bauzaun erhöht.
Die Ermittlungen werden von der Münchner Kriminalpolizei wegen des Verdachts der Baugefährdung geführt.

Even in Germany, you must be able to retire off this one. Let's hope this is the golden bullet for you and you can spend the rest of your days on Koh Samui or some other such sunny and decadent locale.
