Weisswurstfrühstück - favorite cafés & restaurants

Start a Saturday or Sunday the Bavarian way - have a proper "Weisswurstfrühstück".

This is a must for everybody who lives in Munich to have at least once the experience of such event.

Beginning the day relaxed at around 11 am.

Locations like Wirtshaus zur Brezn, Hofbräuhaus, Augustinerbräu.

Loads of places in town. Any other favourites?

Do it alot myself. Beer with breakfast, and nobody gives you any funny looks - ace. Get nothing much done for the rest of the day, but who cares!!!

Eating your weisswurst with a knife and fork!?!?! Not the Bavarian way.

If you want it at home, the weisswurst in packs of 5 from Tengelmann are pretty good and the ones from Metro are very good.

Otherwise, some Saturday in town at the Scheider Weisse Brauhaus would be good. Direct on Tal.

When it gets a bit warmer, its really nice to go to Elisabethplatz. Good butchers, Spanish deli, get your shoppin' done, then sit at the little biergarten there for a nice bit of white saussie and a pint or two. My fave place to go, but mostly I do 'em at home. The ones from Aldi are even passable.

I've heard so much about this breakfast thingie, I think I am going to take a crack at it sometime. Thanks for the tips on where to get them. I guess the weekends would be a bit busier than during the week , right _

The Unionsbräu is THE place to go, and is on Max-Weber-Platz.
50c per Weisswurst. They have a cellar, or a beergarden in nice weather.

the AUgustinerstubl is best for weisswurst...ok in union they're only 50 cents but the beer is expensive...in auggi beer is 2,35 and ww's 1,30 (i do belive)
all in all you can't beat auggi bier!

Every day before noon at the Gasthaus Isartor, 2 Weisswurst + Weissbeer for 4 euros

I am sure I read on previous threads that German girls prefer dark sausage to white sausage? Or was that just an occasional taste and that white sausage was still the regular preferred option?

Crikey UA that's an old post to be resurrecting. I think Johnny was making a reference to that fuck-knuckle who was around at the time, Marcus Blair who regularly commented that his being black guaranteed him a much higher shag-count in Germany than paler skinned residents. I think it was him anyway. Actually, perhaps it wasn't him, but certainly a similar beast.

Anyway, a Bavarian breakfast would be great. Sadly I'm not around this weekend but would definitely be up for organising one soon.

I just came across it looking for 'Weisswurst'. This was the only thread on it - there's no article on it!

These days, I am normally selecting Zur Brezen on Leopoldstr. as my place of choice for foddering weisswursts. It's actually my place of choice for many many things at the moment. What I like best there is being served the saussies in a nice little bowl with some water and a wooden lid. Keeps the second one warm if you are like me and take ages to eat the first (OK, its to give me time to drink more beer, and still pretend I am eating breakfast, rather than just being a lush)

Not only using a knife and fork but eating the skin as well.
I can also recommend the Weisses Braühaus Am Tal.
Excellent Weißwurst breakfast and top Weißbier.

It's gotta be the Unionsbräu at Max-Weber-Platz! Sundays 10am-12pm, €1 per Weisswurst and they have their own brewery in the cellar! During summer you can eat them in their beergarden.

According the zee Germans here are some the best places to try it:

- Marktstüberl Metzgerei Gaßner, Zenettistr. 11

- Imbiss Teltschik, Abteilung III, Stand 17/34, Virtualienmarkt

- Gaststätte Großmarkethalle, Kochelseestr. 13

- Turmstüberl in Valentin-Karl-Stadt-Musäum, Tal 50

yeah, I've been to both the one at the Viktualienmarkt and the one at the Großmarkthalle. My honest opinion? the places that have laready been mentioned, like Augustiner, are nicer and not less traditional. There is practically no difference in the Weißwurst themselves, I can't remember what they cost at Viktualisnmarkt but would suspect more than other places, so if you like the atmosphere at the market, sure.

Großmarkthalle is pretty hard-core. I remember it as a huge, smoky room (a bit like a berrhall, but nobody really having a great time, as usually it's the people who work at /deliver to the Großmarkthalle...so they're just taking a break from work, not relaxing.
