Does anyone know of a few places that offer a nice manicure and pedicure that is clean, relaxing and won't break my bank account? Also do any of these places stay open late in the evening?

You could try some of the better central hotels which I am sure offer these services and are likely to take bookings until quite late.

You could try this salon :
Feelgood Salon. They're official advertisers on this site. From EUR 16 and from EUR 23 for manicures and pedicures.

Yesterday I had a manicure at Ellen's Nail Gallery on Kapuzinerstr. 45. Ellen is a lovely English & German speaking lady from Ghana. Not only is she friendly and English-speaking but cheap too. Manicures cost 15 euro, pedicures cost 20 euros. She does nails for men too. Recommended.

Hi Girls
sorry to come across as so superficial... what I would like to know is not very intellectual.
Has anyone found in Munich an affordable nail salon? All I see are manicures for 20/25 euros..
Thank you for your advise, I am really not that girly but sometimes ...

My advice would be to first of all to use the search function (upper right-hand corner) because there are at least a couple of recent threads on the subject.
Second, I don't know if you've been looking at posh places only, but I've seen lots of nail salons that advertise manicures for 15-16 euros.

@tara thanks, thank you for sharing, just what i needed
I´ve been to Ellen´s on Kapuzinerstr. yesterday and got my first false nails ever. Can definitely recomend her, she was very nice and the prices are also reasonable.
Now I just have to learn how to type with nails.

I went to Hoolywood Nails in the Motorama Mall at Roshenheimer Platz and found it reasonable as well. Nice people and they take walk ins.

I know it's been mentioned on TT before (can't find the thread though) just been to
Norkauer at lunch and had a fab Pedicure for €13,50. they have a new Price List if anyone wants a copy, pm me and will email it you via pdf.
oo they do a 'Hot Chocolate' massage!
btw I asked if they spoke English. the girl told me a few of them speak 'school' English.

Norkauer are cheap as chips but have crap opening times as it is a school. I've had pretty ok facials and massages there (I'd avoid their waxes as I've seen too much go wrong). Schöner is another beauty school in central Munich with similar deals.
Now if you want a great set of fakes at a great price, go to the Elisenhof (below Norkauer) and try Cali Nails on the ground floor behind the Italian pizza place.
It looks like an Oriental nail bar of the type you can find in large US cities. That's because that is what it is.
Very clean, they use sterilisers between each client (not all places do unfortunately) or disposables, no appointments, while-you-wait and they have a total disregard for store closing times as they'd rather had the business.
No pedicures, also do natural nail treatments, offer acrylic, gel, mixes & fiberglass plus wraps. Opi polishes. New sets are under 50€ I think so they are reasonable for Munich.
*looks at hands*
Yeah I should go back...

A friend of mine goes to Cali Nails regularly for Acrylics (I believe) but the nails look just awful. They are extremely thick, look fake and break often. Granted the woman doesn't have nice nails to begin with but based on this example I would not recommend them.
I've never gotten fakes as my nails tend to grow quite well in this climate but I can recommend either getting or giving yourself a regular full manicure (at least once a week) inkl. using a nail strengthener* and you shouldn't need the false ones at all. False nails can also be conducive to nail fungus.
*I use a specific brand which works like magic but I can't remember the name right now, I'll edit when I get home.

I get gel nails done at a little place around the corner near my office. one of them broke (it was still healthy underneath though as my manicurist uses a naturel gel system called LC or something) two colleagues were going to Cali Nails so I went with them and got my broken nail done.
my two colleagues swore they'd never go there again though as the stuff they used was pretty hardcore and ruined their nails underneath.

Just measured my (real) nails and they're at 0.8cm long! Going for the old length of 1cm. Ah, not to have to play the violin anymore!

I used to go to a woman in the
OEZ who is extremely good (she is in the front of the Kardstadt (or is it
Kaufhof). Anyway, it got to be too pricey for me (63€ for fill and French manicure) so I started doing the gel nails myself. I've had acrylic and gel nails for almost 10 years now and have seen how they do it. I bought the kit for 63€ online at EBay complete with the UV light. They look pretty good and you get better with practice. I never worry about breaking one because I can fix it that night and the reason for me to have fake nails is so I would not bite my own nails. It works.

My sentiments exactly! It gets tough when you do want to sit down and play, a bit of a toss up, long nails vs. playing piano.
(Un)fortunately I only have a flute here which doesn't require short nails.

Hi all, I would like to recommend Hoolywood Nails (not a typo!), it is in the basement of the shopping center opposite the Hilton on Rosenheimer Str. For years I have been frustrated by poor technique and high prices in the German salons, but this one is "American-style." Also with the lovely vibrating pedi-chair! I got a great mani-pedi for €40, you don't need an appointment. I'm posting because I want them to stay open now that a friend was kind enough to recommend me to them!

A few weeks ago I found a post somewhere here about an Indian lady that comes to your house to do eyebrow threading, manicure, pedicure etccc. I was eager to try her because let's just say I had a bad experience at a salon that will remain unnamed. Anyways I had the pleasure to have this wonderful Indian lady come do a few treatments and she is fabulous. My eyebrows look amazing-I highly recommend threading. The mani and pedi and bikini waxing was also wonderful. Trust me coming from Latin America I am extremely picky and she was a 10!! She also does massages and other treatments.
Here is her info:

Can we do a ladies day of pampering and have this woman come down? I cannot host since you can barely swing a cat in my apartment. My eyebrows currently are having a mind of its own.

I have a small apartment, and they are pretty flexible about how they work.
I can highly recommend Leena, her handy number is 017627127798. Had a pedicure today which was WONDERFUL. Also had a back massage in the past from Leena, equally wonderful.

In case anyone is looking to get a pedicure and is reading this post... don't go to Feel Good salon. I just got the worst pedicure EVER. I still have calises on my feet, my nails weren't even filed, and I only got ONE coat of paint.

Can anyone tell me how much Leena charges for a manicure, pedicure, or massage? And are her manicure / pedicures focused on cosmetics like in the US or on medical as I've been told is the custom in Germany? In other words, does she clean, file, and make your nails look pretty or will she be bringing out the razor blade to get rid of calluses?

Hey guys ,
I have to recommend this Parlour which is between sendling tor and
Karlsplatz stachus .. I visit this parlour for my eyebrows and Haircut and these guys are very reasonable...
Only eyebrows are around 6 euros , Eyebrows and upper lip are around 10 euros and say u want to do even the side locks

, its about 15 euros .. The lady who does it uses tweezers and Threads and does an amazing job ..
The only negative point is , there is just this one lady who does this and its extremely busy during weekends, the opening hours are from 10.00 till 07.00 . I normally go there during weekday evenings ...
These guys also do haircuts and again the prices are pretty low and they do a decent job ..
Search for Landwehrstraße, München, Germany in
google maps.. its the second parlour on the left side of the street.

Hi jsuravicz
I have seen your post on TT and am sorry you were not happy at all with your pedicure you got at my salon.
I dont mind so much, you tell other TT not to come to my Salon, since this is your opinion and experience, but I think it would only be fair
and also important to either let me (the owner) know aswell, that you were not happy or the girl who did your feet.
It does take courage to call some one and complain, but if you can complain on TT, you can drop us an email too.
It is in our interest to know and we want our clients to be happy and come back.
If you can answer my pm I just sent you, I hope we will be able to resolve this and make you happy.
looking forward to your answer (pm)
Kind regards,
Krista

would never return to feel good salon EVER EVER again!! it´s a rip off, the waxing is awful and I blewd non-stop and had ingrown hairs, lots of left over hairs, re-used bloody wax stripes, and also had a crap manicure there..last 2hours!

Sorry you had such a rough experience.
On the flip side, I've been going to the Feelgood Salon for the last 2 1/2 years, mostly for waxing, but I've also had a pedicure and a manicure done there as well, and I have never experienced anything like you've just described (if I had, I obviously wouldn't keep going back; I'm not a masochist

). Did you let Krista (the owner) know that you were dissatisfied? I'm sure if she knew how unhappy you were, she would do everything she could to rectify the situation.

yes contacted Krista..in fact it was Franziska that had done the waxing and another lady who did the manicure! I found that she wouldn´t listen she would only cut me off which was really annoying!

I have heard the bad waxing from Feelgood from many TT ladies (word of mouth). I find it next to impossible in this country to get a good waxing done! I got so fet up, I went for the laser!
As for mani/pedi- why do they not massage the whole upper arm or lower leg? like back home.
I've only had good experiences at Feelgood, including with Franziska.

I am very suprised about your post, since you gave me the feeling after my phone call, that we solved your dissapointment over the manicure.
Your discription about your waxing experience with Franziska is new to me, especially, because you mentioned without prompting, you were
always a happy waxing customer in my Salon and will come back again for that service.
