Calling all business owners

So I was browsing through the recent posts and saw kitkat's question about starting a business as a non-EU citizen and was wondering how many business owners there are out there. I saw that Hazza owns a bar. So anyone else? Care to share. I've been comtemplating an idea for a business of my own in the near future, but not sure I'm ready to make the jump just yet.

I have an idea for a business.. my friend is trying to set it up in Las Vegas. i'll sell you the idea if you like it

@MoiLV - thanks for the offer,but what I should have said was, I've been comtemplating opening a business of my own. I've already got the idea in place, along with the business plan, market survey, etc. I'm just not sure that I'm ready for the hassles that come along with it. I'm not looking to yank someone else's idea, just looking to see how many expats have gone that route and what type of business they own out of curiousity more than anything.

I've met a number of expats who own pubs/bars/restuarants, but not any yet who own anything else like a retail venture or consulting type business, etc. So just curious as to if there are any others out there.

Well, I am actually gathering information myself. I will post some information in a few days on relevant threads. I already own a business and I would like to have a physical branch in Germany soon. Since I deal with skin and hair products I need to go through different kind of leagalities than opening a restaurant or bar. I am interested in others' business ventures as well so keep em coming.

@ Brock - I'm just curious as to what type of business other expats have opened and/or currently operate here in Germany. Maybe this could be a bit of free advertising too.

Note: I'm not seeking any legal advise here as I have a attorney and a tax accountant who work for me for that type of stuff. I think I know enough about the legalities of things here for what I am looking to do. I'm merely curious to find out if there are other expats out there who own their own business and if so, what?

@ roots - interesting. I've been hard up for hair and skin care products since moving from the States. I'd like to know more once you are up and running (if that's the plan). Maybe you could PM me some details as to what type products you would have available.

I wrote my MBA dissertation on starting up the jewelry company that my sisters and I started back home here in Germany.. it was a business plan as well.. I haven't registered it yet with the authorities (cause I have a different job and never get out of here in time to get to the KVR within their ridiculous opening hours), but it shouldn't be too bad.. just an oHG.
