Hello, we just moved to munich 1 week ago. I would like to meet other people (mothers) who might be in a similar boat.
I am an Ausralian citizen and originally from Taiwan, have studied and lived in Australia for nearly 9 years and USA for 1 year.
My husband is from Australia and working at TUM and we have a 4 months old boy.
We don't really know anyone here , so I am looking for friends (so that I have other people to talk to other than my husband and the baby ) and a babysitter ( so that I can stay sane).

We live in Arrabella park by the way.

would be lovely to hear from you...

Hi Perdido, thanks for the information.
if you happen to know someone who can speak both english and spansh, and is interested in babysitting, please do let me know...
my husband is actually half Australian and half Spanish, we would like to have someone who can speak to the baby in Spanish as well... biggrin.gif

Here's a list of babysitters that have posted their info on TT. Of these, Mary Carmen speaks Spanish (native), English, and is learning German.

Its been posted here before but just in case...be sure your babysitter has good enough German skills to be able to deal with an emergency situation.

Welcome to Munich and good luck.

HI Cheni,

My name is Donna and I, too, have a son who is 4 months old. I don't know a lot of people in Munich and would like to meet other moms. If you are checking your messages, send me a note and maybe we can get together. I am a Canadian, married to a German. Sam, my son, is a pretty easygoing kid and I would like him to socialise a wee bti more!

Hi Cheni and the other mums.
I've been in Munich for 2 months already, a veteran :-), my daughter will be 3 months next week.
I also live nearby Arabellapark and would love to meet some new mothers. I'm actually Italian and my husband is English.
I hope we can meet up sometime soon
Ciao

sorry to crash the thread as i am not yet a mother. however, we are considering starting a family in the near future and i am very nervous about the decision as i just don't seem to have the mother-gene. i love kids and miss my neices and nephews terribly. but i'm just not sure i'm cut out to be a mother. i was wondering if i might be able to meet up with you guys some time at one of your get-togethers and hear from you how things were for you as new mom. maybe get a few tips and the opportunity to be around kids again would be great as most of my friends here are childless. if you guys wouldn't mind, then please let me know when your next get together will be. many thanks!

Hi again,so glad to hear from you guys. Looks like I might be able to make some friends and might even be able to have some fun. I actually have not been away from my boy for more than 2 hours since he was born, I don´t really recall what it is like to go out WITHOUT a pram anymore...

--ajohnson, you are certainly welcome to join us. so tahat if you do decide to have a baby, we can be your support group and maybe our babies can take care of yours while we mothers go out...
our phone connection will not be available until next week, I do try to go to internet cafe everyday though.
here is my mobile:01736809386.
let´s meet up sometime next week, if the weather is sunny and well

If you guys meet up on a weekday, I won't be able to make it as I'm assigned to work in Frankfurt every week until mid-Nov. Gotta love my job. Anyway, if you ever get together on a weekend, please post the details and I will definitely show.

Cheers!

Hi all, I'm new to the site...
I've been here a month and finally found a place which my wife & 2 month old son are now in, they came over last week. We are in Riem but right near the underground/Buga, unfortunatly she has only my mobile and no internet yet. But she would like to meet other similar people, she's actually from China and speaks great english but no German yet...
Cheni as you sound in the same boat it could be an idea if you ladies meet up so you can discuss the way you great husbands have dropped you in it... Oh for my part it's not my fault the apartment has no kitchen... er...

Regards
Andy

biggrin.gif Hello all chicas in Town,

Is great to hear that there are so nice people living in Munich!!!
I am moving in May to Munich from Geneva after working and traveling around the world in the past 5 years. The reason is that a little star decided to come to my life and stay with me. I am pregnant in the 5 month and since my peer is living in Munich we have decided to start our little family live there.

It would be more than great to meet people in Munich. I am originally from Peru but have leaved abroad in Europe and NA (now Switezerland) for a long long while. Therefore I would love to keep contact in Munich to people that come from all over the world.

Beside of this, I am wondering if you could help me with basic "getting Mama" information and "birth". Do you know maybe a good ginecologist or hospital/clinic you could recommend me? I have not clou were to go in Munich and need to start organize all this things. The due date for the birth is July.

THANKS in advance for your help and it would be great to meet you in Munich!

Sandra

Hi Sandra,
having had my daughter in Ulm I don't know much about hospitals and midwives but the only advice I can come up with is to register your unborn child now for Kinderkrippe in case you would like childcare. Waiting lists are otherwise ridiculous (by the time your child is in is time for Kindergarten!)
