Sin
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform Toytown Munich that the band JulieFilth&Sin will cease to exist as of the 9th of September. Johnny Filth, known to some of the older Murphy's karaokists as Johnny Shapemaker must permanently return to his home town of Stavanger in Norway for family reasons. We had just eight weeks prior knowledge of this.

JulieFilth&Sin only formed in February 2003, and was a project that myself and Filth wanted to pursue with our own music after the demise of The Art Vandals (which also fell apart because another ex-pat member had to relocate suddenly back to Brighton, England). The band is/was a 3-piece. Johnny is irreplaceable. There is no logic in seeking a direct replacement guitarist/singer.

JulieFilth&Sin don't play pubs. We have always played concert halls. However, by throwing out the most hardcore ditties from the set, and introducing a few more covers, we can do a much more 'pub' styled gig for the 2nd.

Günther Murphy's was chosen after negotiations with the management for several reasons, not least of which was that Filth and myself met there and planned our first band in 2000. We were both part of the regular crowd before marriages and kids curtailed our nocturnal activities. Victor was very kind to let us play out of our usual habitat.

So, it would seem rather appropriate that JulieFilth&Sin play their final concert ever at Günther Murphy's on Friday 2nd September. This will be combined with Johnny's leaving party for all his old acquaintances, work colleagues from Hewlett-Packard/Compaq, fellow Munich-based musician friends and, dare I say it, old flames. Everybody is more than welcome, newbies, oldbies, middlebies, people who don't even know us... everybody. There is no cover charge and, we will put on as much of our normal stage show whilst maintaining a little slither of decorum for a pub atmosphere.

Very much looking forwards to partying with as many of you as possible one last time.

Sin

JulieFilth&Sin don't play pubs. We have always played concert halls.

Catholic youth centers count as concert halls I guess.

Good luck on where ever the transformation leads you.
Sin
Thanks showem. You're a real diamond when somebody is down.

Edit: Maybe I should have quantified what I meant by 'pub' gigs. At a 'pub' gig, the audience expects to hear music they already know, ie. covers. Yes, JFS have played a great many types of locations, and playing free charities and for kids at Youth Centres is strangely fulfilling, because these kids are very appreciative, and one can come off stage and encourage them to do their own thing too. We still played our own music, with a spattering of 'versions' of other people's material. I suppose you want to argue over the definition of a 'hall'. I can't be arsed. You remain invited to come if you want. If you don't want, then I'm sorry, it probably isn't your kind of thing anyway.

If any of the venues we have played were Catholic run, what do I care? I didn't seek to know at the time, and it concerns me not in the least. Shoot me down in flames if you will. I just don't give a fuck. I just love to write, develop and play live music. It's fun.

Hen party huh? Bring them along and we can arrange something wink.gif
Showem
Sin, that was a bit of sarcasm followed by a bit of honest good wishes. I thought you of all people would have been able to tell that.

As for playing live music, I know all about the fun in doing that.
jeremy
Hey good luck. I am sorry I never made it out to see you guys. Why don't you take along a DV camera and video yourselves? Then at least people might know later what you guys were like.
Sin
@showem - sorry, was a bit low last night.

@jeremy - ask and ye shall recieve: JulieFilth&Sin Live DV

Edit: Probably best to download it and then view.

will you do a live strip with whipped cream and the full works, then? wink.gif
eurovol
You might convince them to play a selection from "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" while the "hens" perform. If they can't or won't, I can bring the CD and a whole bunch of 1$ bills. wink.gif

No... but if we get Filth drunk enough anything could happen wink.gif
Sin
OK. News. We've just gained the services of a 'very special' guest for the evening. So at some point it will be JulieFilthSin and Mister Unknown (but all the Murphy's karaokists of the past five years will know him). Mum's The word cool.gif
tuca
Is it going to be another one of those nights when you feel you have just walked through a door to the past?!?!

(hehe, apart from the fact the past is now gone bald and chubby wink.gif )

Um.. nope, the past is definately not gone bald and chubby. The past is still definately the best voice in the house, and is tall, black, and full of soul cool.gif

OK, just saw Sins top ten albums list, I will definately be there if that's the music that influenced him.
I don't get out very often, so am really looking forward to this.

Sad news but at least we get to hear JFS one more time! Hopefully I'll be there! smile.gif

Think it is more likely trouble for everyone's ears if Sin's plans for the +1 happen...

Oh! Happy day! Friday evening - thunder storms.
UrbanAngel
A request from Sin - could someone bring a camera along to take photographs?
Not sure if my camera's charged up, hence this post.
Thanks smile.gif
Kebab Meister
Fantastic gig; good to see everyone again; sad to see JFS split up! Hope Julie & Sin sort something out in the future! smile.gif

Luckily the tables I booked managed to fit everyone on! Phew!!! Thanks again Tuca for sorting the tables out!!! smile.gif

BTW Sin, that kinda impromtu acoustic (kinda!) song was fantastic. Plus the tamborine sounded absolutely fantastic! biggrin.gif
DDBug
Have to agree - it was a great night (I was just not feeling up to much after the chimichangas for dinner). Bummer that I never got a chance to see them beforem, but am looking forward to the next musical adventures of Sin, Julie and ??.
Sin
Thank you, everybody who came. It was a great night because of the atmosphere you brought with you smile.gif

I put my everything into the performance, and I'm paying the price for that now sad.gif

Just heard snippets of the MD recordings - we got a good capture.

Now I think I will go back to bed.
UrbanAngel
Get well soon!
I'll post the photos and short films as soon as I can.
Sin
Thanks UA - looking forwards to seeing the beard again smile.gif
Sin
Um... did anybody else get pics?
Tom17
We got a couple, will put them up tonight...
Sin
Cheers Tom,

I also have a good MD recording of Yeti's singing wink.gif
Yeti
I'm sure the good refers to the quality of the MD and the recording and has nothing to do with the "singing".

Thanks for a great gig Sin, I was well impressed with JFS. Better version of Helter Skelter than U2, it's been on heavy rotation in my skull since. Hope you get a replacement for Filth soon.

One piece of advice though, lose the backing singer !
Eleanor_Rigby
Be kind Tom . . .

Great concert Sin, sad that my first was also my last.
Katrina
Thanks to JFS (end of an era!), GMs staff for services beyond the call of duty (or sanity), to Tom17 and blimeygirl for, er, babysitting, kebabmeister for the fabbo cd and the marvellous UA+1 for fun as ever (am looking forward to that "kicking in folk along to music" thang).
Hazza, this is for you

As for a certain gentleman's "singing", well, if Lemmy ever retires, Motörhead know where to look...
wink.gif
Sin
@katrina laugh.gif

Lunchtime: I have just been listening to the MD's, and there in all its glory is an incident that happened as we were getting up to start the second set. I don't know if anybody noticed the (presumably) stag party that came in between the first and second set all dressed up as spooks?

One came up on stage and asked, "Do you know 'Country Roads'?"

You can guess the two word answer he got. I'm still laughin'.
UrbanAngel
You mean the 1 guy dressed in an orange jump suit with a blonde wig and black sunglasses, surrounded by ca. 8/9 bodyguards? That was quite amusing, especially when he started giving out signed postcards of himself smile.gif I couldn't read the signature too well, but the suriname (sic) was Superstar biggrin.gif
