What's the German equivalent?

I want to prepare a London Broil this weekend for a dinner party that I am hosting. Anyone know what the German equivalent to this cut of beef is?

what the hell is a London broil, anyway? I have come across that in London or any parts of the UK, for the matter. But I am neither a butcher nor a chef, so it could just be I've just never heard of it.

Edit: ok, after posting, i thought: why not try and see if "London Broil" is in the Wikipedia. Lo and behold, it is!

Edit 2: is it possible that we Brits call this brazing or stewing steak?

Edit 3: Leo says that stewing steak is "Rindfleisch zum Kochen"

I have only heard the term "broil" in the USA, I think its what we in the UK call "grill".

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The cut of beef used to prepare a London Broil is a flank steak. I'm looking for what that is called in German so that I don't look like an ass when I go to the butcher on Sat morning.

Leo suggests both Steak aus der Flanke and Rindfleisch zum Kochen (as OG's 3rd edit says - well, Leo says this is a stewing steak which is not what I would be doing). Anyone actually seen a flank steak at the butcher and know what it is called? Is it really Steak aus der Flanke?

It is the same cut that they use to make rinder rouladen here with. You can also use that cut to make fajitas.

The International Beef Dictionary will sort out all your needs.

International my ass. Looks more EU to me. Not one top round or sirloin in sight and no American either. rolleyes.gif

This might be helpful...

Did anyone ever find a place to buy flank steak? And if so, where?

Huftensteak. I marinate in Kraft Zesty Italiann dressing for about two days in a baggie with the air removed, squishing it around a couple times a day. Then grill/broil it and slice thinly at a sharp angle.

woof.
