My girlfriend has been dying to play a few rounds of euchre since we moved to Munich 3 mos. ago.
We wanted to get an idea how many euchre players there are in TT and how many would be interested in getting together and playing some time. Maybe at
The Arc on a cold, rainy summer evening?

We're thinking next week some time, maybe Wednesday evening (24/8).

Next Wednesday works for me.
If it's nice out we can find a beergarden and play outside.

Totally up for that. hmm test ends on tuesday is this perfect?

Sounds like we are on for next Wednesday (24/8). I suggest that we confirm the time and location on Monday or Tuesday of next week to see what the weather is looking like.

Thankgod! Some Eucre players!!!

I can't believe the amount of people who don't know how to play. So, count me in...in September anyway. I'm still in Canada at the moment so I can't make it this time around.

I'm noticing a large Canadian representation here, is this a Canadian game? Has anyone else heard of the game?

Aug 18 2005, 8:57 am
I've heard of it. Just have no recollection of how to play it. Judging from your excited reactions, it can't possibly be the
card game I'm thinking of though...

Silva, I think you are right - I googled Euchre last night at home (always curious about new card games I haven't played) and I believe this link tells you that it either is Canadian, or at least is in majority played in Canada and the parts of the US close to the Canadian border (my highly annoying filter at work won't let me go there to doublecheck):
http://www.pagat.com/euchre/euchre.htmlSounds like you are all bad-ass veterans at this, but I'm always up for learning & playing if you need an extra!

I love playing Euchre too... I am from the midwest but learned to play Euchre from a bunch of airforce guys...
Anwalt
Aug 18 2005, 9:14 am
We learned in college in Michigan. Obviously that borders Canada, so there may be something to this Canada theory.
Anyway, I suck but my girlfriend is really good. I mostly play to add to my list of reasons to go out drinking.
So, we're on for Wednesday (24/8), date and location forthcoming.
Eleanor_Rigby
Aug 18 2005, 10:41 am
I'm no good either but I always have fun. Besides, it is a really easy game to learn.
Butterbean, for some of us cards are the only thing to get excited about
Looking forward to seeing you all.

So I looked at the weather this morning. The only semi-nice days of this week are supposed to be Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully the weather holds out and we can get our Euchre on at a beer garden. Otherwise,
The Arc is a nice central location.
My suggestion is that we confirm the time and place by Wednesday afternoon. I don't trust these weather guys. They never seem to get it right.
Eleanor_Rigby
Aug 24 2005, 8:17 am
Is this still on for tonight?
I assume a beergarden is out of the question.
Anwalt
Aug 24 2005, 9:15 am
Yep, we are still on for tonight. I think we should choose and inside location. Although it isn't raining now, I don't trust this weather.
As long as there are no objections, I say we go with
The Arc at around 8PM?
zimmer
Aug 24 2005, 9:17 am
OK. I'll try to be there!
Eleanor_Rigby
Aug 24 2005, 9:46 am
I'll try to be there as well, might be a little late.
I'm going to bring someone so we may have enough people for 2 games.
Euchre is a 4 player "trump style" game similar to hearts and is really easy to learn for anyone who is interested but hasn't played before.

For anyone else that is coming and doesn't know what I look like, if you see a tall, Brad-Pittish looking fellow with rippling muscles, that is not me. I'll be the averag-looking Joe sitting at a table with a deck of cards. My girlfriend will also be there, dark hair, blue eyes.

Aug 24 2005, 10:33 am
Is this going down at the arc? If so what time? (i didnt really get the 24/8 thing.) anyway i would love to come along.
Anwalt
Aug 24 2005, 10:38 am
Yes, we will be at
The Arc at 8PM.
BTW: 24/8 is the date (i.e., August 24), European style.

Heya! Anyone up for this on Sunday afternoon??? Say around 3pm or so at the Arc???

Apr 24 2006, 9:35 am
Heya! A few of us have decided to play Euchre on
Wednesday April 26th. If the weather is nice we could do it at a beer garden...otherwise the plan is to go to
The Arc. 7pm-ish???
Anyone welcome is welcome to join! Beginners, anyone who's grown up playing, the lot
Post if you'd like to come along.

I'd prefer the beer garden to
The Arc if the weather holds up. Might i suggest Hofbräukeller? That way, the non-beer drinkers have the option of
Sausalitos cocktails. oh and we can also escape inside (which is plenty big enough) if the good weather doesn't hold out.
iain
Apr 24 2006, 10:05 am
Whats a "non-beer drinker"? I dont think I have heard of those before

(
seriously each to there own this is just a non pc comment to be ignored by people who may potentially take this comment seriously.) I would love to join in on the euchre. Where is this hofbraeukeller? If I can make it down to minga you can count me in!

Apr 24 2006, 10:23 am
Sounds good OG! I think I've also recruited kaiserf and Wizadora...if they're still free that night...

Apr 24 2006, 10:36 am
I love card games Bridge, Skat, Doppelkopf, Cribbage... etc. but generally speaking wednesdays are no good, how about another night?
Owain Glyndwr
Apr 24 2006, 10:43 am
The
Hofbräukeller is on Wiener Platz and has a large-ish Beer garden, outdoor
Sausalitos and enough room inside should the weather spoil our plans.
To get there take either:
- the Tram 18 and get off at "Wiener Platz"
- the S-Bahn to Rosenheimerplatz, then about 5-10 minute walk to Wiener Platz

- the U4/5 to Max-Weber-Platz, then a 2 minute walk down Innere Wiener Strasse to Wiener Platz

- Tram 19 (currently operating as Bus 119) or Tram 25 Max-Weber-Platz, then a 2 minute walk down Innere Wiener Strasse to Wiener Platz
- also the Buses 190 and 191 to Max-Weber-Platz will do the job ( i think there are a couple of others as well)
I suggest a couple of us get there as early as possible to reserve tables as this is a popular venue when the sun shines.

I'm still up for it. Beer garden is a great idea, need to enjoy this weather while it lasts!

@UncleNick...
Well, Wednesday seems like a good night only cause TT Tues, Mondays and Thurs Rugby and Rollerblading...Friday Karaoke... so Wednesday seemed like a good one. Come along if you can

So...so far we've got
sk8rgrl
Wizadora
Owain G
kaiserf
iain (maybe)
Eleanor Rigby
Would be good to have 8 so we could get two games going...anyone else wanna join?
Wizadora
Apr 25 2006, 9:02 am
I've found another taker! So I'm +1. What time are we talking about then?
sk8rgrl
Apr 25 2006, 9:28 am
I dunno...OG says get there ASAP kinda thing...is 7pm early enough then???
Owain Glyndwr
Apr 25 2006, 9:32 am
I will try and get there as soon as possible to reserve tables (I shall aim for 6pm but no-one else has to be that early). However, if the last weather forecast i heard could be belived, we won't have a problem getting tables in the beer garden.
sk8rgrl
Apr 25 2006, 9:38 am
Damn rain!
Eleanor Rigby
Apr 25 2006, 9:49 am
If it does rain, we can always go inside. The Hofbraukeller is quite large.
Owain Glyndwr
Apr 25 2006, 9:55 am
and afterwards we can go downstairs for some dancing...
sk8rgrl
Apr 25 2006, 10:04 am
Hahaha...ok...gotta get kaiserf drunk enough to dance first
Eleanor Rigby
Apr 25 2006, 10:06 am
We will all have to be very drunk to go dancing in this place. I think the minimum age requirement is 50 and you must dance polka and polka only.
I'm really hoping OG was kidding although you never know with him.
sk8rgrl
Apr 26 2006, 8:47 am
Hahaha! Well, I'll bring my camera in any case!
Anyone else wanna come along? Last call!
Wizadora
Apr 26 2006, 9:23 am
I'm still a definite but my +1 has dropped out.
Am aiming for 7.30. Let battle commence...
Eleanor Rigby
Apr 26 2006, 9:26 am
Doesn't really look like Beer Garden weather so we'll be inside somewhere or we can do a last minute switch to the Arc if you guys prefer.
Owain Glyndwr
Apr 26 2006, 9:27 am
personally i would prefer not to go to the Arc. I am looking forward to a good night out there on sunday and I would prefer not to water down the experience.
having said that, i am easy (as ER knows) and will go anywhere people decide.
Wizadora
Apr 26 2006, 9:52 am
I'd also prefer not the Arc. Much as I love it, I seem to always end up there at the mo so another venue would be nice.
sk8rgrl
Apr 26 2006, 1:53 pm
So, we'll all meet inside the beer hall then

See you there!
