Katrina
Topsy, should be muenchen ticket or eventim. I can't book until Monday, coz am not using credit card in internet cafe.
bubblylady
You can get them on München Ticket and the price is 30,90€
Malcolm Spudbury
The support band is The Greenhorns. Never heard of them.
I got the tickets at the kiosk under Marienplatz. None of this new-fangled online booking for me, thankyou.
ski
@Katrina - If you don't want to use credit card at an internet cafe, Muenchen Ticket allows you to reserve tickets on their site without paying for them, then you just go to one of their ticket stores later to pay there (I think you need to go within around 10 days).
You then also save on the postage costs.

I know I know them but just trying to remember what they sound like. I tried to find some examples of their songs to listen to but amazon page cannot be displayed. Where else could I look (listen)?
Topsy

They are at Olympic Park, Marienplatz and Rosenheimer platz (exact addresses are on the site).

I've booked 2 too. But I have to pick them up coz they only take credit cards and not maestro. Haven't managed to get hold of a german credit card yet. They've given me until 31 August which should give me enough time.
Topsy
so, who's actually going to this on sunday, then?

shallot
@Moonboot. That would be good - what time are you going?
Wibble
@Shallot

To answer your question as I don't think Moonboot is online any more, there are 13 of us including Moonboot (4 or 5 are TT'ers) meeting in Murphy's sometime on Sunday afternoon.

I will be there at 2pm to watch the football but most will probably turn up between 4pm and 6pm I suspect.

Note to self: Don't start drinking at 2pm as I want to enjoy the White Stripes.
Topsy
i already pm'd her and sorted it out, she's coming to Günthers at about 6pm, and so are we smile.gif
see you then

I just came back from this concert. It was awesome - probably the best I've seen in Munich. Zenith is not much of a venue as mentioned above. The sound was so bad during the opening act that I thought it would be a bad concert. It was okay for the main act though, although we had moved closer to the stage by then which probably didn't hurt.

FYI we showed up at 8:00 and bought tickets at the door. It probably wasn't sold out although it got pretty packed right before the White Stripes took the stage. Jack White was awesome on guitar, not to mention piano, mandolin and xylophone!
UpQuark
Effin amazing, that one was. BTW, I'm now officially in love with Meg White. "cold cold night"? Not with me, sweetheart. (Where's that smiley with all the hearts on it?)
billybob
they were excellant last night, best live performance l've seen in munchen.
and managed to find a cab quickly at the end so didn't need to mess around with the ubahn, hurrah
top night
acockreland2balls

The Greenhorns were shockingly bad.
The White Stripes were awesome! My hearing is still reverberating with the sounds!
Wibble
Agree that The Greenhorns were terrible. The White Stripes were excellent as expected. Always amazes me that 2 people can generate so much noise. Very impressive.

a friend of mine is a sound technician...he says support bands are not allowed to sound as good as the main acts...the sound set ups are different!
weren't the Stripes playing to some playback tho...not for evey song but I think to a few at least.
still a top concert tho!
canuck
I agree...great concert last night...
abra
must agree that the concert was excellent!! it was not so nice in the mosh pit, though. my boyriend and i were terribly squished, and about halfway through, he fainted from heat exhaustion/dehydration, which, needless to say, was pretty scary. but about 15 minutes later, we made it back towads the front.
and they had great stage presence! meg white is amazingly beautiful, even if she reminds me a little of a robot...and i was very pleased with the encore, it was possibly even better than the first part of the concert.
the air quality was absolutely horrible, though. i think i may have started to develop lung cancer last night.
but, i did make three euros just from spotting pfands and finding beer cups on the ground without even looking, not too bad!
Cumbrian Claire
A bit late replying, but I only just registered! I saw the White Stripes last weekend, they were awesome! And I just booked to see Franz Ferdinand at the Zenith in December... should be immense, am keeping the northern lads alive in Germany!

I'm Claire by the way, just started my year abroad at Regensburg University, so not too far away from Munich! I'm from Cumbria, England (hence my display name!) and I'm normally a student at the University of York. And I LOVE music. It's all I talk about!

P.S. The Greenhornes sucked! They were rubbish! But as someone said, they aren't supposed to upstage the headlining act!
