There is a much easier way to watch live British television.
It's exactly the same as watching it in England - I signed up months ago and it's been brill.
Try thetelly.net - they charge the same rate as I'd pay, well less actually, and it's really made me feel close to home.

This has to be an advertising scam. Who in their right mind (in Europe) pays almost €300 for setup, €200 for UK TV license, and €75 PER MONTH for basic Free-to-view TV channels in crap PC-based quality, when you can pay less than €150 for a satellite set-up that does the same (worst case another €100-150 for someone to point it in the right direction) and watch REAL TV on a REAL TV with no monthly charges?... On a continuous basis a full blown Sky service with all movies and sports , even in HD costs only a little more
I'm always suspicious when someone registers on TT, makes a post like this, logs off and never returns...
SILUK
Sorry, YorkshireLad6, no advertising scam ... and I return to say so... smile.gif
I cannot USE a satellite dish - forbidden - and I tried the liveuk thing. Terrible quality. I do not have the time, nor am I technically astute enough to want to waste time setting elaborate stuff up with what I read of "torrent".
All I can say is that this service (thetelly.net) has been great for me ... I already had a TV Licence. I don't know why you're grumbling about prices - it's my money, not yours.
It pays for the same equipment I'd have back home.
SKY would cost me far more ... are you kidding?
And to sit back, watch tv on my big screen just as if I was home, ... I like it.
I don't find it "PC based quality crap". The Slingbox is excellent. Did you try their demo?
I guess I am not going to get a finder fee commission for referring you? smile.gif Bugga.

www.peekvid.com is quite good. You have to sign up bit its free - it has tv shows and entire movies.
I watched Saw 4 last week on it.
SILUK
Sorry Dotty

I just went to the site you recommended ... one big string of commercials ... I couldn't even navigate my way to even figure out what content they have - seems not to be live ... and if it is not live and not legal they'll end up like tvcatchup.com ... shut down.

I just want SIMPLICITY and an experience as close to being at home as possible - nothing geeky, just easy, simple to use.

And that's what I am enjoying!

OK guys, I'm going to do you all a favour. If you REALLY want to see all of your favourite TV shows and recent films for free, or in some cases for pennies, and I do mean pennies, then try this ...

www.tv-video.net

I've used it for 2 months now, and wish I had never bought a TV and dish and digibox, and blah, blah. This IS the REAL DEAL, believe me.

The Forums there are a bit iffie to surf, but the shows are DVD quality. If you are not happy with the above site, then I don't know what you need to make you so.

Off to watch, " Without a Trace. " ... Will drop in later to check out your comments. Looking forward to it.

OK it's not live tv but if you can't get Kabel deutschland(the only cable company offering a UK tv selection, but it's not that great) & you have'nt got a dish(or can't afford)
but you have internet connection then try the following links. They're all streamed live & have tons of UK TV shows(Old & New) & hundreds of films from 1930-Present Day.
It's a nice alternative & costs nothing. Just been watching Porridge & now The office & then finish with the Battle Of Britain!!

For the veoh one above, download the veohTVBeta & then you have access to the search function.

Also it's worth getting the DivX player, as some films/programs can only be watched using that.

Happy viewing!

Welcome to Germany, and TT. Surprisingly you're not the first to ask that question - have a look here.

Simply route your connection though a UK proxy server (you may have to pay to get a reliable proxy server, or set up your own in UK) and you can watch the respective ITV and BBC services without problems, as you've fooled their servers to think you are actually in UK. And before you ask, there's plenty of information here if you search

easier said than done, if you ask me. I've only ever managed to get it working briefly (even using clever things like foxy proxy); long enough to download the show i wanted to watch but then wouldn't play it.
YorkshireLad6
...that's why I said "pay" or "set up your own"

Surf the Channel has most of the good UK programmes (I think) and is fairly reliable if you don't mind Chinese subtitles. I watch all my favo(u)rite US shows on that site.

wow! How long till that site is shut down? Or is this officially sanctioned?
hughk
If the program is any good then it will exist on the net and usually pretty soon after it is first screened. Bittorrent is your friend. An easy way to look is to go to Google and look for show and torrent. Series and episode are generally expressed in the form S05E01 (series 5 episode 1). For downloaders, I would suggest Azureus Vuze which is a resource pig but easy to use. Of course, downloading copyrighted material is illegal unless explicitly allowed for by the owners!!!

alot of peole seem to be asking or talking about this so I though I would drop it here from my original post on another thread-

I have hunted for a really good streaming TV service that would deliver in Germany without buffering and still be in good enough quality to watch on a plasma screen. There are loads of sites that unfortunately don't deliver outside the US, then theres loads of sites that are simply crap, broken links, or gigantic chinese subtitles. Crap here is really defined by getting 48 minutes through a 56 minute show and the stream drops off, leaving you on a cliff hanger sad.gif I found a site that so far I have no complaints about: http://3click.tv To date there is almost 8 thousand episodes with no ads, but the really cool thing is they have complete seasons on here (I got seriously hooked on 24 and Prison Break which you can't really miss an episode of and know whats going on). They are based in Europe which I think makes a difference on the quality of the stream by being closer geographically to the server, at least thats what they told me when I signed up. Its the best TV solution I have seen out there for streaming TV and the first one I have seen that actually works they way the described it.

cheers
