Lakeside camping near Munich

HI ALL!

headed for munich in2weeks...Looking for suggestions for lake side camping near munich reachable by public transport!

PLEASE HELP!

There's tons of camping all around the Bodensee (aka Lake Constance), and it's a great place to go camp and visit. You can catch the train from Munich to Lindau in just under three hours. If you can manage to rent some bikes, it's a great place to bike around (and easy, too).

The Thalkirchen campsite is next to the Isar. That's a river, not a lake, but you can go swimming in places.

Some good suggestions for camping in and around Bayern.

There are also two really beautiful sites near Murnau... the ones in Uffing and the other is in Riegsee (about 45 mins drive on the Garmischer autobahn). Area is great but I am not sure about the facilities...?

Also, they both looked really full- so you might need to book in advance...

Ammersee. There's even a German-language website.

For refererence the S-bahn (Munich suburban train network) line is the S5 to Herrsching, halfway down on the east coast - the best side for enjoying sunset on the beach.
