Abdula has done so well that he has opened up his own shop right across the street from where he was before at the NICE studio. His place is called, oddly enough, ABDULA. Same prices as before. Men 8 euros, women 13. Walk-in's welcome.

Opened since July 1st, 2005 "ABULA" is located in Schwabing on 72 Barerstrasse. (or just across from Man-Fat.) Opening hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 10pm or Saturday 9am to 4pm. 089 2722 583

He still does a great job with my hair, so if you see me about and wonder who cuts my hair just remember...

"Abdula- that's his name,
that name again is Abdula."

Can he cut a flat-top?
No not for me.
profundo
Katrina, since when do you need a flat top? I thought only Grinner was in that market. wink.gif
And bd, what's wrong with a name? Abdula is a very nice guy from Iraq who is starting up as an entrepreneur in a foreign country and has a wife and several kids that he is trying to raise here. Kudos to him for giving it a shot. We introduced ourselves for the first time a year ago and were glad to shake hands inspite of knowing our countries were at war. I've helped him get rid of his old apartment and through a couple of plugs on TT brought many english speaking customers to him. -Bottom line- nice guy. Cuts hair well.

(I had added this to the other thread of barbers but since it was getting so long E-bob made it into a new one. -Thanks E-bob.)

I'll check it out... my next haircut will be there!

The skinhead got a skinhead because he couldn't get a flat top cut properly in Munich. Should the skinhead decide to no longer be a skinhead then he'd have a flattop. To have a flattop he'd need someone to cut it properly.
Or something.
ume
if you insist, I will give him the opportunity to cut my hair. [attachment=9876:attachment]

Greg is also a regular patron of Abdula.

What country is Abdula from?

So, I'm taking a wild guess that he's from Iraq.

Sorry Profundo, don't want to change haircutters. My Iraqi haircutter is near the UBahn on Theresienstrasse. 9€. All I say when I walk in is 'Wie immer.'

after getting a wonky cut from abdula I now get mine cut by an incredibly hot porno blond chick at a place on Fraunhofer Str. Haircut plus perve for a measly 8 bucks. And she does a trendy cut too.
canuck
@worm: where exactly is this place?? smile.gif
worm
near the junction with muller str. Its called city sphinx or something. Theres actually normally about 4 or 5 hot chicks, no blokes, the blond is best, BUT SHES MINE! MINE I TELLS YA!!! tongue.gif

Is it not prejudice charging women €5 extra?
delonghorn
don't suppose he speaks english?
DJ_Jazzy_Guff
He speaks a bit of english and will waffle on about his son being in london. You're better off just speaking whatever German you can as he doesn't give a monkeys how bad you are. I go there to practice my new words without having a German saying "Huh"?? with a pained look upon their face.

Just got a haircut from Abdula. I must say he is good.
He understood what I explained and got the haircut I wanted.

I echo ume's words. I visited Abdula for the first time today and am quite pleased. Even the wife gave her approval, which is a far cry better than the three straight days she spent laughing at my last haircut! laugh.gif Abdula was very pleased to have another TT referral.

Just wanted to add that I've been to Abdula 3 or 4 times now and think he's great.

One thing I really like is his "no hair guarantee" as he calls it ... hmmm... maybe maybe I made that up since it seems like a bad selling point ... anyway ... after he's done with the cut he takes a bunch of time with blowdryer and brush to ensure you don't have any cut hairs all over your head and neck. The first time or two I didn't think much of it and did my usual go home and rinse off bit, to get rid of all the little itchy hairs. Then, the last couple times I realized that he really got them all and there was no need to head back and take a quick shower. So outside of getting a good cut, he also offers a service that I've never received at any barber in the US or Germany.

Abdula rocks; competent, cheap, and a super nice guy.

No hair guarantee? Maybe you should check your ears a little closer Jarvii, Greg always has hair after his cut. But he does like the cut from Abdula.
christine_4none
One of my friends got his hair cut from Abdula and he looks no less than a punk now.

Perhaps he's not getting the full Abdula treatment smile.gif Or maybe Greg is just a sweaty guy so it's too hard to get the little hairs off laugh.gif

This is a possibility...

Just out of curiousity, does Abdullah know how much love he gets on TT. Someone should print it out for him smile.gif

ps: and no, its not a ploy for more advertising, I think its sweet the way you fellah love on him.

I don't want to plug this place but!!!

It IS called City Sphinx, I think with a large Orange signboard so you can't miss it. If you take the U-bahn U2/Fraunhoferstr, exit towards Goetheplatz, then you will see Berg Wolf when you're coming up the escalator to the street. Turn right (facing the street Klenzestr) and right again into Fraunhoferstr and walk a few metres down. If you take the Tram 27, just stop at the station Muellerstr. and cross the street.

I think address is Fraunhoferstr 4 or something. The Polish chick there speaks good English - can't remember her name though. worm is right, they're hot chicks there...

went there and got a great cut and colour for next to nothing!highly recommend it!

Went to Abdullah's today and found it to be superb. My german was really letting me down, but I would say he speaks more than "a little bit" of English. Good cut and super nice guy.

I just moved here from California about 2 months ago and was very grateful to see these threads on haircuts. I used a chain called "Supercuts", which is all over the US and gives you the same predictable cut. Good price, fast and consistent. In fact, this is the first time that I've had to get a haircut here due to my biz travel back to US.

I tried out Abdula and found that he provided a result very similar to what I'm used to with this chain haircut store and at only about 2/3 the cost in USD. He was fast, friendly and his English wasn't so bad (good thing as my German is still pathetic).

Easy to get to from the Universitat station on U-6.

I need to get my hair cut quickly this afternoon somewhere near Rosenheimerplatz. Can anyone recommend an "Abdulla" type of place in that area of town. Basically anywhere within walkign distance will do.

Thanks for any tips.
profundo
Adula has been thinking that he might generate more business if he changed his shop's name from "Abdula" to "Top Hair Shop". He also now features individual scalp massage brushes that he keeps and labels for each customer.

*Wishing him continued success*.

I went to Abdullah last week and, as usual, was very happy with the results. Cool guy, super friendly and he gives a great and cheap cut.

I went to this guy a while back and he gave me the worst hair cut I have ever had.. seriously.. and its not just my opinion.. went to The Arc afterwards and everyone was laughing.. it was truly terrible.. its just lucky I really don't care, I would rather pay 8 euros for a crap hair cut than 15 for a good one smile.gif

My next haircut was at a place near Schillingstr and that was actually pretty good.. and 8 euros as well.. .

I'm just about to head off to my cheapo place now for a wash & blowdry. It's a little place on Lindwürmstr just before Poccistr. I'll note the name today and post it. The Turkish guy does blowdrying/straigtening 'Turkish style'. It looked great and held for ages. Whatever you do, don't go to the cheap but flashy big place on the corner of Lindwürm/Poccis. It might look more modern than the other cheap places but they are unfriendly and you have to wait ages.
