Internet from hotels

I'm about to embark on a 6 week hotel stay in Munich. I want to have internet access, but will be stuck if the ISPs will only deal with the phone account holder. In the UK, you can still get 0800 (free call) dial-up where you pay a monthly fee but have unlimited access with a roaming profile. Such a deal might be the cheapest, provided that the hotel does not charge for 0800 calls.
I've got a laptop with built in modem and wireless - which is a start - although I might need a suitable modem cable.
I'll add that I'm used to ADSL at home and the reversion to snail pace dial-up is going to be tough. However, I expect that ADSL will be far to expensive, and much too difficult to arrange for such a short spell.
Any advice gratefully received. As I will be new to Munich then please don't assume any previous knowledge of the German telephone system - I have none.

Depending on the hotel, you might find that the room has high-speed internet access over wireless or LAN connection.

If your hotel room doesn't have WLAN/DSL access then you can find a cafe easily which has cheap (or even free) WLAN access. Some hotels have a few computers set up in the lobby area (Eden Wolff Hotel) for guest use too.

DSL here is about the norm, most biz types of hotels have some sort of access, at worse WIFI in the loby, Also most hotels do not charge for a free phone number in Germany on a per min basis, some of the more money grabbing ones might charge you a one off connection charge, and nearly all hotel phones are ISDN at least.
hope this helps
