Does anyone know a snooker club in Munich?

Afraid not, but there's a fairly reasonable pool hall in
Ostbahnhof (in the station). I don't know if they have any snooker tables there, but even if not they might know a place that does...

As with AM, can't say for snooker, but the
Schelling Salon on Schellingstr is definitely worth a visit for pool. It's a really old place with good atmosphere and friendly people. I think the owner has been there since it opened in 18-something-or-other. It's probably the best known in Munich.

Schelling Salon, is that the place where Lenin is reputed to have once played?

Yes, but he'd had one too many earlier on in
Alter Simpl and wasn't up to form.

Thanks all. I have been nicely utilising company time and bandwidth to watch the snooker live on the BBC web site, and have got a burning urge to go and play. Happens every time I watch snooker - then I go and play, realise just how big the tables are and how bloody difficult it is to even get a break of 30, then normally move to the pool tables!! Are the pool tables at
Ostbahnhof American pool table with those big bucket unmissable pockets? I imagine I will have to learn what rules they use here too - 2 shots for a foul or a free ball etc etc. Seems to be different every time I play.

I vaguely remember seeing one on my way to Theresienwiese last October. Walk from Hackerbrücke to Theresienwiese and you should pass it.

Would love a game of snooker or two one day. Haven't been able to play much here, but used to play a bit at home. Must say though that breaks over 30 were few and far between for me!

You can only play at that place in Freimann if you join and it ain't cheap if I remember righlty - you pay an annual membership fee, then you pay quarterly subs on top. Basically unless you go down a couple of times a week it's very expensive.

And it's North by the way. It's the only place I've found where you can play snooker in Munich.

Heard a rumour, that may be absolute bosh, that the pool hall at
Ostbahnhof actually has a snooker table aswell.
Steve Davis nearly won a ranking tournament (welsh open, nothing important really) last night for the first time in 9 years, but was duly beaten by young Ronnie.

Davis lost ? really, I was watching that and he was 8-6 up before I turned off. Hmm, he should really think about quitting, its not like he needs the money or anything !

Yep, they've got a couple of tables. They're not in the best condition though.

Davis continues because he loves the game - top man. You have to respect him for that. I met him once and played a frame with him and he was a top geezer happy to take time chatting and generally not act like a spoilt superstar type bloke, unlike the very dull and unfriendly Peter Ebdon.

Yeah, I've also met Davis, as you say, top geezer. My dad is a professional snooker referee, so although I do not get on with my dad, when ever I do see him, try to get to a tournement with him.
Worse person for I met was Steven Hendry, stuck up twat !

Davis is a top man, salt of the earth nice geezer.
A mate of mine was lucky enough to be invited out to Spearmint Rhino one night with a couple of his mates, and none other than Jimmy White. Apparently they had a bloody great night out, as you can no doubt imagine. Jimmy White, living legend.
I love a bit of Snooker, but its so bloody hard its annoying. I may well try out
Ostbahnhof sometime this week though, and see if the tables are worth playing on. Could be a good friday afternoon plan. Couple of hours of snooker early doors, then over to see Hazzas band.

Yeah, you're right.. The 'snooker' table at Schelling Salon sucks. Actually all the tables there are just brutal. A few of the tables are massively slanted. But I guess that can add character to the place.
I've played at Ostbahnof about 6mos ago, and they did have a decent snooker table then.

Snooker on Friday afternoon Don? I would, as you no doubt know, be well up for that son. Is everybody talking about Snooker here tho? I'm pretty sure the Schelling Salon didn't have snooker tables, just 8-ball and that weird German game with no pockets...

There's a good pool hall near Grosshadern called
happybillard that I thought had a few snooker tables. Web site says they only have one

. Still the pool tables are in better condition than at ostbahnhof and I think the prices are cheaper. Not the easist place to get to mind...
