Bah. Sorry to hear that, at least it could mean that the KFC is still warm by the time it gets to you though?

QUOTE (Tom17 @ Aug 14 2007, 3:28 pm)

Bupa schmupa won't let me be an in-patient. I have to trek home after the op. This is upsetting for me.
I keep envisioning me wandering round with my blood tubes hanging out of my knee and its making me shudder and cringe.
Op is set for 22nd@12:15
dont worry I had no blood tubes or anything. leg was bandaged from toes to thigh but underneath just had two little dressings - first time I had it done was day surgery too and honestly it was fine. I was only kept in this time cos I live on my own and after a general anaesthetic you arent allowed to be alone that night. Maybe lie and say you would be on your own if you really want to stay in?

My Dad has this operation on both of his knees and 3 weeks later did an Ironman Triathlon. It doesn't seem like it's anywhere near as bad as an ACL for example.

So after they changed my appointment on me I think it is pretty much final.
Under the knife I go at 7:45 tomorrow morning. I will be getting my blood tubes as I go in to the docs on Thus to get them removed. Ugh.

I think we have run out of legs now - hopefully he can keep away from arm damage, there is no ACL in the elbow is there??
Anyway more shout outs for the Wolfart, the people there are sooo nice, even in the Tagesklinik where let's face it, they don't have to be.
They kept Tom comfy until I could get there to bring him home, they even called us a cab and we got a decent rate back to Schwabing thanks to them.
Everyone walks around smiling if you can believe it, even the patients.

Thanks peeps

Wow this is amazing. Having gone through the gruelling ACL recovery 2 years ago i was ready for a hard time but expecting an easy time based on what I was told. This is easier than I imagined! Already hobbling round the house a little bit without crutches and pretty much no pain whatsoever. No painkillers needed at least.
I can see why people are back in action from this surgery in mere weeks.

Oh and Johnny English, incase you perchance glance at this thread. Do you know a motocross guy called Alfred/Alfie who lives in Augsburg, does a lot of historic stuff as well as current stuff and has won a few german championships? A long shot, but I met said guy there as he had the same op and we had a good old chat about the racing life

Tom the Knee...
