See, I knew that a Brummie was a person from Birmingham, but not that it was also a truck. The things you learn from Toytown...

This will never work. The brummies will find a way to enter the city nonetheless and polute the air just like they do out on the country roads every day!

The news story that the placard refers to is about the
plans to ban trucks from the city center.
I just thought it was a funny play on words between the german "
Brummi" and the english "
Brummie".

Hey
Im from Redditch, born in Solihull.
So im probably a posh Brummie, if there is such thing.
When im back home people say I have lost my accent.
Probably due to the fact when i first came here nobody understood me and over the years had to really make an effort to speak clearly.
But a quick telephone call with my parents puts the brummie back in me :-)

"Born in Solihull"...now, was that Solihull or nearby Acocks Green as most people who claim to be from Solihull actually come from Acocks Green!!??
If you were a "dead posh brummie" you would hale from Henley in Arden.

My parents have lived in Redditch all their lives.
Solihull hospital was the nearest Hospital in 1980, although some people were also born in Bromsgrove. Only 2 options really back then.
So is Solihull hospital in the posh area?!
Lol I dont care really as long it wasnt Sparkhill or Sparkbrook, Acocks Green isnt the greatest of places either.

Solihull hospital is smack in the centre on the Warwick Road.
Maternity units have been in satellite buildings at various stages in the past though.

You get smack in Solihull hospital? No wonder my grandad was singing their praises!
Acocks Green is great. I used to go 10 pin bowling there when I was a kid. And anyone who thinks the name of that area is funny should ask me the name of the school I went to. We seem to go in for "names with innuendo" in Brum.
So, what was the name of the school?

Is the Orange Tree in Henley in Arden?? I have been to that one before it was renovated, it was better before the renovation.
I like the Tudor Inn in Warwick at the back of the castle and also the Saxon Mill just heading out of warwick. Its owned by a chain but its great in the summer to sit outside by the river and you can just see the old, ruined manor house that is owned by the masons!!!
Jeeves

Never heard of the Orange Tree, although most hostelries there do seem to have colours: Black Swan, White Swan, Blue Bell, though the Red Lion and Golden Cross have disappeared in the last 10 years
