Does anyone know where the Super Bowl is shown in Munich? There must be a bar that stays open the whole night for it?

I think I am going to go watch it at
Hard Rock Cafe. Apparently you pay about €20 and get buffet and a beer or something like that.

Günther Murphy's Irish Pub might be showing it. They were open for it the last two years.

Yeah, Hard Rock is allegedly where the best scene in Munich will be. Go there and get tickets ASAP as I have a feeling the place will be jammed.
About Günther Murphy's, rumor has it that they won't stay open unless enough people express interest.
For info, coverage generally starts at 11pm German-time, but I dont think the game actually starts until around 1am and finishes about 6am.
So my tip is to sleep all day Sunday. Get up at night, watch the super bowl, go for breakfast and then straight off to work Monday morning and suprise everyone by being the first in the office!
Well thats my plan anyway, although no doubt I'll be out a lot earlier than that to see the footie at 5pm!

I spoke with Djan (John) aka Big John the manager of Munich Hard rock about this the other day. Apparently they can't call it the "SuperBowl" party anymore because of copywright infringement so they are calling it whatever. I suggested ZuperBowl but they had already made their new signs. Anyway...
They WON'T be showing the commercials!!! This has always been the best part of it for me. Well, atleast it makes it worth sitting through a long game and in a way it is a sort of catching up on current events in the advertising world.
Nope. No commercials. They will run other boring programming because it is carried through the international airwaves.
Also. No half time show says Djan. (I think- Can't remember that one clearly since I was putting back a few that night.)
Perhaps it is this way at every place showing it so you better double check if it matters to you.

Morning All,
We in Günther's WILL be showing the Superbowl again this year. As normal it will be Karaoke first and then at 1ish the game starts. If I remember correctly from last year the Sky coverage includes the Ads & half time show. Our kitchen will however will be closed, so it will be toasted sandwiches from the bar from 11.

Anyone know if Premiere is showing the half-time show or commercials? I'm having a small party for the event, and a few friends have expressed interest in watching the 1/2 time show, and I'd like to see the commercials.

TTers I need help! I’m in Munich for my yearly vacation and thought I had watching the super bowl worked out, however as with most best laid plans I’m now without a place to watch the game.
My brother-in-law told me months ago there was no problem it’s on regular German TV every year. Now he says maybe he was confused and thought I meant Basketball. He’s German and really has no interest in American Football at all and there in lies the problem with my plan.
I have read on here that The Arc has a super bowl party planned, is that the only place or can some one help me out with some others? Maybe a hotel where I could get it in a room or even in the lobby. My days of heavy drinking are over and I really don’t care to have to buy drinks all night in order to see the game.
Thanks in advance for any help. I’m a huge fan and will catch a train to Garmish or even Mannheim if I have to in order to get to American TV to see the game.

Champions Bar at the Marriott Hotel show it I think. The Arc is closest to me, so that's where I'll be.

It's on live on Premiere, the subscription cable TV channel. So if you have access to that then you can watch it on there.
Yes, the Marriott Hotel usually shows it. Otherwise, if a sports bar in Munich doesn't have at least Premiere then they should be prosecuted.
On Premiere you get the American commentary, also.

Hi y'all,
newbie on this forum, I'm probably what you can call a reverse ex-pat: a German from Munich living in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Profile wouldn't accept Fort Lauderdale + Munich: Too many chars. ;-)
I fly home to München at least three times a year, and another trip for ca. three weeks is coming up - during Superbowl of all times. I know the ARD is showing Superbowl in German (I shudder thinking about the commentary) but I'd think it's probably viewed live in bars or pubs somewhere, isn't it? Or does anyone maybe know if it's shown on satellite (I only have sat, no cable).
TIA, and I look forward to perhaps meeting some of you.

Hi there !
Premiere lost all rights of showing the NFL this year, so it won´t show the Super Bowl either!! The only channel that has the original broadcast (this year it´s on CBS) will be NASN, which you can get by ordering cable (here in Munich it is carried by
http://www.kabeldeutschland.de/wunsch-fernsehen/index.html. They will have the original commentary, but also NO commercials... I guess they will carry the halftime show and some analysis.
Hope we will have the Colts vs Saints in that game... would be the best matchup IMHO... my team, the chargers, got kicked by the Patriots... geez, what a poor showing of Schottenheimer´s team last week !!! 10 game winning streak and then they fumble and get the dumbest penalties in the most important game!!! Still pissed abut that one!! Hope Manning can get his act together this weekend and beat the Pats!!!
Have a nice weekend
greets

Has anybody ever been to the Hard Rock Cafe for the superbowl? I went to the Arc for the last two years and it was pretty good. I hear the HRCafe want 20 euros and then they can't show any of the entertainment or some weird deal? I'd ideally like to watch it in a pumping place full of fans with proper commentary and the full show. Anybody know about that Champions sports bar?

There's one other option for people who can't make it to
the arc and want to hear English comentary: TVU player. TVU player is a free online video player that streams television stations from around the world. To get it, go to
www.viidoo.com and download it. Currently (stations sometimes come and go) there is a feed from the CBS station in the California Bay area. I've been able to watch NFL games there with no problem. You get everything (including commercials), just like you were watching in the USA. There's about a 20 second delay to real time.
All you need is a fast internet connection. The only problem that I forsee is that there could possibly be a lot of people trying to watch the super bowl online, causing everything to run slower.

I would definitely recommend
The Arc. Watched it there two years in a row and loved the atmosphere. I will at last be able to watch it at a sensible hour this year - 3.30pm. Perfect

You know in England, teams compete for the FA cup, and at the end, they actually get a cup yeah, so in America, does the winning team get to hold up a massive bowl? And just how super is it? do you reckon the etimology of the word comes from soup? Did the super bowl all start to settle some soup feud between 2 cities or something?

Yep I am going with
the arc. Hazza/Jason and the arc crew have always been accomodating to the yanks although there have been a welsh or kiwi that always try to ruin the fun. haha Besides the american fantasy football crew is based there and the arc makes a kick ass burger.
