I promised my little niece at christmas that if i ever saw a russian doll id buy it for her. This was because id seen a few at markets on my regular trips to Bergen Norway last year (brought down by russians on ships). Anyhow, ive not seen one since and she is constantly pestering my sister about it.

does anyone know if and where i could buy one in munich? (preferably of russian origin)

There's several Russian food shops around, they might have one or two in them. Trying desparately to remember the location of them, but failing at the moment. Seem to recall one on Leonrodstr, but I can't remember if it's still open.
Topsy
the one on leonrodstr is still open - it's in the stretch between nymphenburgerst and landshuterallee

It is exactly on the junction between Leonrodstr and Frundsbergstr. - directly between Cafe Freiheit and a hairdressers and below my Hausarzt, facing Platz der Freiheit.
They have them in the window as well as a wide selection of vodka, Russian foods, et al.
Can't think why I know this... wink.gif
Topsy
u-bahn rotkreuzplatz and a short walk up leonrodstr - sorted smile.gif

There are also a couple of Russian shops near Kolumbusplatz. One on Entenbachstrasse and one on Humboldtstrasse.
OhFFS
I thought it was 'traditional' to buy them on the internet? Example site.

Also a shop on Schliessheimerstr (spelling?- tend to mix up my e + i's), just up from Maharani Indian restaurant by Stiglemaierpl.

Or, take a trip into Czech Republic, they are everywhere!

There are 2 shops near Kolumbusplatz like koala mentioned. Except that there isn't one on Entenbachstrasse, I think koala means Falkenstrasse. At the one on Humboldtstr. I am sure I've seen those dolls in the window. They also sell Ben and Jerry's ice cream there. Go figure.

That's right, they're all over the place in Prague and Czecho generally. Probably cheaper than in Munich and greater choice. A lot of novelty ones as well, like footballers, politicians or personalities instead of dolls.

Try Munchner Romantix,Pfisterstasse 6. Close to Hofbrauhaus. This shop has just about everything.
