I know i have some allergies, and would like to get tested. Anyone know of a good allergist or place to get tested?

On a related note...

Anyone have trouble breathing off and on lately? Im not sure if its the weather, my allergies, adult (late-onset) asthma or just crappy ozone (as the bavarian wife says...)

I also dont smoke and am relatively fit, so that aint it. Any feedback would be helpful.

Not really trouble breathing, but dry coughing attacks in the wee hours of the morning, which is new.

My son was tested for allergies and asthma at schwabinger krankenhouse - don't know if they do it for grownups as well though...

Come to think of it- he has been having coughing fits in the wee hours as well lately...

When I first moved to Munich, I had troubles breathing ... the triggers were mainly, copious amounts second-hand smoke (cough cough) & beer!

There exists a high correlation between allergies and toxins in the body (i.e. poor nutrition, food pesticides, prescription medicines, pollution, smoking, etc). Perhaps, a cleanse would help. I do a simple twice a year cleanse (no food for 5 days) and have found that when I’m around these certain 'triggers', my allergic reaction is mild - compared to a few years ago.

Also, in the area of nutrition and allergies, you could try cutting out wheat products from your diet and see how your body reacts.

Let me know if you want that simple cleanse …

No gluten allergies here, but thanks. Dairy? you bet, but other than the usual dust, dander and pollen, Im thinking i might have something else bothering me. I was allergic to some funky tree while drinving thru the southwest, but everywhere else it never bothered me.

And as for the early morning cough, I get it before bed and a bit in the morning. During the day, nowhere to be found. After Googling 'adult asthma' , it would seem that it can be triggered by allergens, and that you could have had it, and not been affected by it till recently.

My wife has a younger sibling, who after sleeping in a basement room, developed some pretty severe allergies, and was for quite a while quite sick. (Due to unseem mildew in the adjacent room giving off spores and what have you...)

As for the cleansing, It couldn't hurt, but i prefer a juice-fast approach. I just cant function on a complete fast. and thats just for 2 days.

I recently went (about 2 months ago) to the HNO doctor, and told them that I was having problems with allegies, and they gave me a full test, its horrible, but maybe worth it.

They basically prick you in each arm 12 times, then drop a small drop of almost everything you can think of on to the parts of your arms, and you have to sit there in complete itch hell while they wait for a reaction. This is real hell when there is a reaction as you cannot scratch !

@ Crotaline, perhaps it's just a sensitivity to your surroundings, new flora/fauna causing a reaction. How long have you lived away from your home surroundings (America)?

Here's the cleanse, excellent for cleansing your gallbladder and intestinal track. If you do it, make sure your teeth are in good shape (no forthcoming surgery/fillings needed).

First thing, you need to attempt to cut all of 'the bad boys' out of your life ... a good start would be, white sugar & flour and milk!

Try this 5-day cleanse:

Day 1: Eat only fruits & vegetables (no sugar, meat, milk & milk products or flour). Veg. based soups work well!!
Day 2: Drink 3 liters grape juice (unsweetened) with equal amounts of water. Try to 'chew' your grape juice & water to encourage more digestive enzymes. Through-out the day, take 4 tablespoons of olive oil, this will help to flush out your colon.
Day 3 & 4: Repeat Day 2
Day 5: Repeat Day 1

*** Try to do this when you're not working ... esp. days 2 & 3 ... you'll need immediate access to the toilet and sadly, you won't be smelling all that pretty!!! ****

Day 6 and on: Be very aware of what FOODS your BODY needs and most importantly, WANTS!! When you start to introduce foods back, note how you feel after the meal (i.e. do you feel itchy, can you breath, are you tired, do you have increased energy).
