Why no permission to post a reply?

Under what circumstances is one not allowed to reply to a topic? I was surprised to receive such a message for one specific thread. What did I do to deserve this? Do the editors exclude specific members?

I noticed this too. It sometimes happens for normal threads. I thought it was a spam control as you can't post too many posts within a certain time, but in the last case I hadn't posted anything for a while. I think it was in MRC

A few more details might help to explain why it happened. Maybe it was a thread that was getting moved to a different forum while you were trying to post to it. Maybe it was a thread that was getting locked while you were trying to post to it. Maybe it was flood control. But I really doubt it was a personal vendetta to not allow you to post Nicky.

Yeah, if you can't reply to a thread, reload the page, you should be able to see if it's been moved or if something was removed from it. I just about always do the moderating without closing the thread first, so maybe it's me confusing you! Maybe the error message said something more specific.
