Just had a listen to the Jet album "Get Born". Excellent stuff. Will definitely check out the concert. Didn't realise that was their song on the Apple iPod TV ads.
Presh
Jet rock. They just won Triple J's Hottest 100. A big honor in Australia! biggrin.gif

Hazza
Got my ticket for JET...
Hazza
So who's actually going then?
photojenny
I'm going! biggrin.gif

Just one question: is it possible that the venue has changed??? I thought they were playing at Atomic Café, not at Metropolis?!? unsure.gif
bex
yep they moved to a bigger venue. Atomic cafe only holds about max 500 people.
(I wish Powderfinger could do the same!)

@hazza - Im going!!! So are Jimbo, Foxy, Greg, Marija, Nathan and Lee. I think Blades'y might be going too.

Dont know about Jimbo and Foxy but the other of us will be meeting in Bondi first.
Presh
Im coming too! Got my ticket, thanks Hazza!!
Hazza
Looks like it'll be a good crowd then. Should be a great night cool.gif
Katrina
Are they Australian? I have no idea.
My mate keeps on nagging me to go, are they like The Datsuns? Because I saw them and they were OK.
Herr Indoors likes JJJ though, he's just installed a wireless LAN with broadband and so we had JJJ on last night.
Had a phone-in show about lookalikes and this guy rang up and said that before he go fat he got told that he looked like Neil Finn but now 10kg later he gets told that he looks like Mick Molloy. I creased up at the presenter because he said "You went into temptation then and the temptation was pies".
x
PS Hazza may be the only person apart from my brother who will laugh at that.
Foxy
Woo Yey- Its tonight!!

Getting very excited now... biggrin.gif
Hazza
Is anyone meeting up beforehand? Are we going to meet out the front or something, or just hope we bump into each other at some point during the night?
Jimbo
Bondi mate! It says it above - I'm aiming to be at Bondi for 20:30 latest and then jump in a cab over to the gig...see you there. If ur not gonna do that tho PM me for my mobile number.
Keydeck
I shall nip down to Bondi for a couple of pints and to see you kids off safely smile.gif
Presh
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah I have a perfectly good Jet ticket in front of me... boo for me, I bet I missed a GREAT show!
Jimbo
You certainly did - venue wasn't really all that great IMHO, but the band were great. Mixed opinions regarding the quality of the support act - I thought they were a bunch of rip off merchants who borrowed way too heavily from other acts (Cast, Stone Roses, Bob feckin' Dylan even), but I think Foxy quite liked 'em...
Presh
Sniff, sniff. Why isnt there a smiley who is crying??? Im so devo. Listened to the cd all the way home from the ski slopes... boo hoo.
Hazza
Yeah, it was a shame you couldn't make it, Presh...

They put on a great show. Unfortunately the crowd were like a bunch of stunned mullets. A lot of them didn't seem to get into it at all, and the support act was pretty weak. But Jet are a fantastic live act. For me it was also great that there were about a dozen people there that I knew would be there and I saw them all!!
flogger
how would music buffs compare JET to POWDERFINGER.or are they not really comparable?

bin interessiert for once.
Hazza
Jet sound like a cross between AC/DC and the Rolling Stones.

Powderfinger do not...
Presh
im sorry im soooooooooooooooo sick of powderfinger. all the songs sound the same. ugh. im so sick of ppl raving on about them. apologies to all PF fans they are a great band but im just over them.
Hazza
I could understand people getting sick of Powderfinger in Australia - they get a lot of exposure and certain radio stations in Australia play them to death. Thing is that we get hardly any exposure here, and that keeps them fresh for most expats who have lived here for a while.

Apart from that, they are also a quality band...
Presh
Yup, can understand that. Most def overplayed in Oz. Enjoy them!
Hazza
I would if I was going...

I'm not here again this weekend.
flogger
when is paul kelly coming over here?>
Hazza
Paul Kelly can fuck off...

I saw one of his concerts a few years back. Biggest disappointment. Played only 1 song that wasn't from his latest album (that nobody bought, incidentally), and then couldn't get anyone interested with an insipid overall performance. Everyone I spoke to afterwards was pissed off.
flogger
oh dear.
what about john farnham?
Presh
Yeah Paul Kelly. Hmm. And its Johnny Farnham thank you very much. Hes the voice and you cant knock him. My best friend works in radio in sydney and she finally got her lifelong wish to meet him at a radio event... all she could manage was ´I love you Johnny´before her knees buckled... this coming from the girl who has met everyone from the Wiggles to John Travolta.
Hazza
Don't even get me started on 'Farnsey'...
flogger
ok verstehe..
how about that green gimp garrett then?
Hazza
Midnight oil - were a great band. Fantastic live too. Too bad they split up...
Katrina
Hazza, I know you are not my brother but he has exactly the same opinions about Paul Kelly and the Oilers. But today I am happy. I've just heard that the new Finn album might be out in May/June and they will be touring Europe YES!
Katrina
Keydeck
Saw Midnight Oil way back in days of yore at the Olympia in Dublin. Great music, big scary baldy fcuker if I remember rightly.
flogger
he's a politician now. great white hope.

god save jonny h.
Presh
